Moderators: Vince is calling Parkcitybrian a troll.

Parkcitybrian has been a forum member since 2013. Vince has repeatedly called him a troll. This has been reported, no action has been taken, and this is so wrong.

I have used the Report function each time Vince has called Parkcitybrian a troll. Other forum members have PM'd telling me they also reported the posts, although no action has been taken. After calling Parkcitybrian a troll on the Intellishop thread on which vince was the OP, vince went to a couple of Parkcitybrian's recent posts on other threads and posted "Troll alert." I also reported those.

I agree with Mary that it is wrong.
I'm going to venture a guess that the forum owner does not see calling someone a "troll" as a problem worth moderating. We all know he favors as little moderation as possible. I think we should cut him a break and leave it be. It's been reported - numerous times. If he doesn't want to delete it that's his prerogative - it's his forum.

Actually, after Mary posted on Meta, all the troll-calling posts were deleted by admin within an hour.

Made me happy. Thank you, Jacob, or whichever mod deleted the name-calling posts.
I had also reported them, so am pleased to see them gone. Thank you whoever made the decision.

I intend to live forever. So far, so good.
It figures - they get deleted once Stillearning reports them. Admin's pet. tongue sticking out smiley

I stopped reading that thread awhile ago. It bugged me when the thread title was continued here in the meta section.

As for the moderation, it is very hit or miss. Slightly sarcastic comments get removed but psycho rants and name calling gets to stay.
Thanks to whoever made the positive move.

OUCH... logical, concise and accurate. And "owners prerogative" speaks loudly! smiling smiley

I like this thread. Can we talk about name-calling? This was an unusual situation because vince called someone a troll multiple times and was looking up parkcitybrian's other posts to post TROLL after them. I was surprised vince was not banned.

Is it bad to call someone a troll? I think it is. It seems especially bad when a poster is new and is immediately labeled TROLL by another poster.

If a poster really is a troll, he will like being called a troll, because he wants to stir things up and get other posters upset. You are making him happy by recognizing him as a successful troll. But if a new poster is NOT a troll, that very effectively makes him never want to return to this forum. It totally shuts down a newcomer who may or may not be on the level. It is unwelcoming and unprofessional and other forums I participate in moderate that behavior.

We have a Report feature. The moderator should take care of it. Name-calling is not the answer.
What about the personal name calling attacks? A recent one happened on Saturday but it took several forum members using the report feature multiple times but two days for a moderator to finally remove it.
Happily, when the name-calling post was removed, the moderator actually removed a total of THREE attacks posted by the same poster directed at 3 different forum members.
