Ad-Free

Why is there a banner at the top of the page that reads: "You are viewing the forum ad free. Thank you for your support?"

@JacobJ: That's very nice of you, but why would you choose to do that?

Did they send you a check?

@Alter_Ego – nope, no check or anything at all, except for being great forum members.

@stilllearning – why would I do this? Well, the ads have been rather unprofitable lately. So, I thought I may as well remove them for the people that contribute the most to the forum. Plus, the people that use the forum most are not typically the people that click on ads. I've been thinking about giving people an option to pay in order to remove ads, but am not sure if enough people would want to do that, or even how much it should cost.
Thanks!

I'll have to make a few adjustments to get rid of that box now. smiling smiley

Tech geek language below.

I put my own content style sheet wrapper and wrote a grease monkey script to edit the HTML on the forum in my browser in real time to change the look considerably.

This actually added something to the top of every page, where there was nothing before. tongue sticking out smiley
This is what the site looks like when I view it now:

scanman, I'm technically challenged. I can offer a paid up house on rural acreage and hot breakfast every now and then. Would you like to marry me?

Heck, for that I'll learn the tech skills and I'LL marry you Mary! (Can I bring my husband?)

That sounds interesting. I'm also in the market for a roomie who does yard work and owns his own hammer.

We'll hire out, yes? Hehe.

I would be willing to pay a membership fee for no VIDEO ads. Those things make me crazy. If I go to a site that has them, I more often than not close the page and look for another site with the information I need.

At first I was like, "what ads?" and then I remembered I have Adblock installed anyway.
Although I appreciate the "written ads" being Gone. But what happens to the video ads that keeps showing upsad smiley in the corner of the page.
@sojo917 – there should not be any ads visible to you. What pages are they appearing on? I'll look into it.
The video ad shows up about 10 seconds after I logged onto the site. Again when I go to any page. It is a 10 second video with an "X" on after the video is over. If I don't click on the "X" the video re-winds. and another video appears. If I click on the "X" after the video is over, it disappears until I go to another page of the forum. Right now I don't know if it appears throughout my WEB searches, but it does appear here

I just click on the ad and it appears to be from "FRIENDSCHECKER Advertisements.

@sojo917 – it sounds like you have some kind of malware on your computer, showing ads. Those are not coming from our end here. Eeek! Try using a malware removal tool. Hopefully that will fix the issue.
Sojo, I found this. Maybe it will help.
