@Sybil2 this is the reason I was unable to reply to you on the word association thread. Each time same error.
@newbieshop, when did I post to the word association thread? I very rarely check out that thread. Something is definitely "hinkey" with the forum these days.
I am getting that same message when I post. I just use the back button to get back to the thread. I am sure the glitch will get fixed eventually.
@Sybil2 –– the server had a serious malfunction last night. Are you still getting this error? Let me know!
I think I found the error that was causing this, but please let me know if you see any other issues. If you can't post, email me: jpjans@gmail.com
I just tried to send a PM and got that error. It gave me a notification that the Admin had been informed of the problem and that I should try again later.
@JacobJ, this morning's message said, "The database connection failed. Please check your database configuration in include/config/database.php. If the configuration is okay, check if the database server is running."

I could not even log into the forum during that time period. That message no longer pops up but several forum members are reporting that the Phorum message still pops up when we post to a thread but our post does actually show up. The PMs don't seem to be working at all.

Jacob, I will send you a test PM right now.
@JacobJ, when I just sent my test PM to you, I got the following response...

"Phorum Database Error

Sorry, a Phorum database error occurred.
The administrator of this forum has been
notified by email about the error.
Please, try again later!"

So quit watching "The Oscars Best Dressed of the Red Carpet" and get on it, Jacob! tongue sticking out smiley

Yes, I just stuck my tongue out at Jacob. He knows that I am kidding around,. He has a sense of humor!
Uggghhh. So I'm pretty sure I figured out the issue with the PMs. I'm running the fix now. It should be done shortly. PLEASE let me know if any other funny business is going on.

Thank you!
The PM issue may be more complicated that I initially expected. I'll keep you updated.
Something really weird seems to have happened to the database. I believe the server crashed last night, during a backup process. This caused the database to its numbers mixed up. I believe I fixed it –– but there still might be some lurking issues. If you find anything, please let me know by posting here, sending me a PM or emailing jpjans@gmail.com

Thank you!
I just sent another test PM to Jacob. This is the response I got. Drum roll please.....

"Your private message was sent successfully."

Let the PMs fly once again!
@JacobJ, I am not getting the "Phorum Database Error" anymore when I post to a thread in the forum. Another success!
Syb I never got your PM but looks like everything is good...no more error notices. Thanks JacobJ!

@JacobJ, I think the system crashed again. Today's message says:

"Database Error
Message: MySQL Query fail: SELECT max(n2.notification_id) AS notification_id, p2.message_id AS message_id FROM notifications n2 LEFT JOIN jpj_likes p2 ON n2.object_id = p2.message_id WHERE n2.user_id = 93180 AND class='LikeNotification' GROUP BY message_id
MySQL Error: Table './mysteryf_phorum/notifications' is marked as crashed and should be repaired

I'll try to PM you in case this post does not work.
@JacobJ, it is another new day and I am getting the "Phorum Database Error Sorry, a Phorum database error occurred." message again when I try to post in the forum. It seems to only happen in the morning. Maybe the forum needs to stop partying late at night so it doesn't wake up with a hangover! winking smiley
@Sybil2 –– are you still getting the error? Let me know. If you can't post, send an email to jpjans@gmail.com –– Thank you!
@JacobJ, I did not have time to log into the forum at all this morning but it seems to be working fine in the afternoon. Let's keep our fingers crossed.
Jacob,
I have tried 3 times today to add to the thread about What you are having for dinner. All times I get an error message that that site cannot be found. And, of course, the new post is not there.

Is this another thread that needs to be restarted, perhaps?

@walesmaven –– I think it's another broken thread. It seems to be only happening to very long threads. I'm not sure of the issue. The simple fix seems to be to create a new thread. I wish I had a better answer at this point!
I am definitely no expert but don't you eventually need to backup and/or delete the really old stuff to make room for new material? I would think a website/forum has a limited amount of storage at some point. Is the forum uploaded or saved to something like the Cloud? Or does it not work that way?
@Sybil2 –– there's plenty of space for the database. It also gets daily backups, though they are difficult to restore, because it is such a huge file. The backups are mostly for dire emergencies of the most severe kind. Something seems to have happened to the database file that caused a few things to be weirdly off. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like there's an easy fix. Fortunately, the damage seems to be very limited.
