I missed the original post so not sure what it said, but posting someone's zip code on the internet is creepy. At the same time, I know enough about Irene from her posts here that I could tell you her zip code as well so I'm not sure there is a big conspiracy, just someone doing a jerk thing.

About a year ago I had someone look me up and use my real name.... my real life friends don't even do that. Everyone uses my pseudonym.

MegglesKat
My zip was't posted by her, but was posted on another thread, and I thought it invasive and yes, creepy.
I'm not afraid, just nothing I would personally do.....and have to wonder about the motivation, oh look at me, I know your zip...being most use alias and don't want to be known, allowing someones zip is weird,.since the mods let it stay, what more can I say? Knowing someones city, of course one can find it, but publicly sharing what you've looked up and posting it about a member, smacks of stalking. probably the best thing to do is stay off the internet.

Besides my own, obviously, I know the real names and zip codes of exactly 3 people on this forum. These were freely given to me and I would not dream of sharing them publicly or privately with anyone else without their express permission. Irene I did not see the original post that showed your zip code so I don't know how it was presented. I have no idea whether it was deliberate or not on that poster's part. I don't think the person who posted those 5 zip codes on this thread meant anything other than if a zip code is posted without a name or pseudonym attached to it, there is no way to know who it belongs to. Personally, if I saw my zip code posted on here, I would be okay with that as long as no other identifying information came with it.

Good, then how about posting ones name. ...if someone wants to send me a gift, PM me and I'll give you my address and zip, if you promise not to post it on a public forum, I'm not o.k with it. Rude, let them post their own zips. I feel some here should take a manners class. who knows if they got other info., they wouldn't post it.. just sayin.....

I posted the 5 zip codes, Sassy. I picked them largely at random. Like these:

60804
90210
22042
20500

Just posted the zip of four more shoppers! It was supposed to be tongue in cheek, but I guess humor doesn't always transfer.

I read the post and thought it was about where to look for an apartment shop. Would not have picked it as your zip code if you hadn't said so. You should write the person who posted it and ask. Tempest in a teapot.

YES, it was deliberate...but I'm not going back to it other than to say, it was posted by an old member who hasn't posted in a year or so. on someone's post...I wrote them asking why they would do this, and wasn't answered (surprise).more to the story, but yes, it was deliberate. I have reported it to the forum, and to a personal friend that was a policeman (retired) and now has a private bodyguard business to the star's, knows everyone that is anyone in L.a. I found out there are internet laws, and this is one. Stalking and getting one's personal info., then sharing it on a forum is NOT o.k. This is about shopping and various other topics.
edited to add: then I write a privacy thread, and wouldn't you know, a member then posts other members zips, and she knew what she was doing....trust me....and backtracks saying, it was "tongue in cheek"....we're smarter than that.....

Yeah, that was me. I picked some random zip codes to make a point. I'm sorry if you didn't catch that.
