Grocery store item audits?

How difficult or time-consuming are these audits? I see several of them that are not far from my area but I don't want to pick them up if they are going to be a pain in the butt.

Try searching the forum for grocery audits, I believe they were discussed in the "Shops I wouldn't touch with a 10ft. pole" thread if that gives you any indication. Never done one only because I have yet to hear one person say it was worth it.

Thanks. I definitely wouldn't want to be stuck doing a slew of them and have problems.

.....
I find grocery store audits to be very time consuming.
Also, the ones I completed, the requirement was that you had to do it undercover. I did these audits in a small store with about 60 items to find. I still don't know how you can walk up and down short aisles without looking suspicious.
One tme I was approached by a manager who wanted to know why I was going up and down the aisle and writing on a clipboard. I told him that I was a Boy Scout cooking merit badge counselor and one of the requirements is for the Scout to figure out the cost of meals and I was just at his store to update my knowledge of what items cost.
Do you know how many couponers bring clip boards, binders, or BOXES into the store just to prepare for their shop?? I wouldn't worry about it looking suspucious. I would just tell em I'm comparing prices. But I was wondering the same thing. If they were worth it. I often go to stores and look at every single thing looking for an awesome deal...when I get tired of being at home. So I wouldn't mind if it was time consuming. I would , however, look at how quickly the co. pays. That's how I decide if it's worth it.

looking for hotel shops for newbies, if they exist.
I go in mentally prepared with an explanation in case I'm approached on every mystery shop/covert audit I do. I never have been asked, but would say I'm preparing a sample data base for a course assignment I'm doing in college.

.....
You are right about how long it takes or even how much it pays, just as long as you are satisfied with the work. As for me, I do this as a "hobby" and it is nice to get paid for. It. It gets me out of the house instead of sitting at home watching TV.
Vebree, you asked if they are a pain in the butt. Here is your answer. YES!

They are on my list of "never agains".
I just signed up for one...after reading on this forum MF called me to do one...and I doubled my fee..I know its not that much but I havent been doin this for long and I know if they call they r desperate!! Good luck to us both!! so many items!!
I did a few audits in the same area last year and never never never again will I do it. I noticed them again this year and they were posted for two week and two weeks after the posted date. They started calling with a bonus and I said "NO" right away. So I think another new person in the area did it and I'm sure they will never do it again.
Never did one myself, but there are countless postings against doing them here and on the V-GOD site. Grocery price audits and IKEA seem to be the worst shops..
