Demographics... geesh! yawning smiley(

I've been seeing a local shop advertised as needing help, yet every time I try to schedule it, it isn't on my job board. The pay rate was great for what what required, so that REALLY made it desirable! I finally emailed the scheduler to ask specifically for these shops, and was shot down... turns out I'm TOO OLD yawning smiley(
How depressing is that???

The shop is geared towards tweens, and I actually shop this store with my kids all the time. Heck, I've gotten some of MY favorite outfits, shoes, and accessories, from them - I love the store! I just thought it was odd - I mean, who's buying all the stuff for these kids?? Their parents!! I'm "only" 42 for Pete's Sake!

Oh, and even better??? I'm also TOO OLD for a shop at local day cares!?!? In reality, I have kids ranging from 23 years old, all the way down to 2-years old, so for me to be at a day care facility is not unusual.

I went from being the youngest Mom, to the oldest Mom - not sure which was worse?

My first 2 grandchildren are due THE WEEK of my 43rd B-Day...

Doesn't make sense, does it....who better to shop than you, going there for your daughter and knowing the merchandise, seems there cutting off their nose, and not seeing the whole picture. Your 42, shame on them. My favorite Urban Outfitters was cut down to 45yrs. when they changed MSC's, the pay was also cut. I always got a 10 and enjoyed the shop, now it's gone, I know how you feel.

I agree. Some shops cut the age off at 49 for a sit at the bar shop. OMG what planet are some of these people on? The fifty years olds today are the money makers and spenders. It is little insulting that as a single 55 yearold who still has it all, is not capable of sitting at a bar and having a drink objectively.
LOL!! Yeah, what the h*ll??

Thx for the replies ladies, it's nice to know I'm not alone.
They will have a tough time finding "under 49" bar shoppers in some retirement communities.

Yeah, I'm 39 and I keep finding all these "alcohol compliance" assignments around me. I'm too old, even though people tell me I look like I'm in my 20s.

And then there are the AARP assignments where I'm too young! I just can't win, can I?
When I do my bar audits, I never get to fill out the carding, as no one at the bar is under 30yrs., uspecially in my town, and with well drinks being $6.75, how could they afford it....

Phoebe, you can do my old Urban Outfitters, but hurry, you only have 6 years to shop there...smiling smiley

Irene, I actually looked at one of the Urban Outfitters assignment, but I'm not "hip" enough. smiling smiley
Is this the used clothing store? I love those. I always wondered why they sit for so long. I go as often as I can and see people of all ages in there. Who are they kidding?
They are not used, just youngish and worn looking...they also have cards and unusual quilts and stuff bought in Europe. I used to try on a blouse, as their jeans are all made for size 0, but is "was" a fun shop.

LOL-I am too old to do Superior Grill, as I've posted before.

Now, I am too old to do Estee Lauder (which I find hysterical as I perceive it as an "older woman" cosmetics brand) at age 45.

The former wants me to be 40 or under, the latter wants me to be 25-35.

Find it funny that those rules get REALLY flexible the last week of the month. :/
By the last day or two of the month, the main demographic is still breathing. The only shops that the demographic cut offs really make sense for are the tobacco and age compliance.
Just.Laura, are you telling me that at 42, you're not running around in curlers, moo moos, and knee highs? Honey, neither am I! You've got my sympathies. I'm the same age as you and I dress trendy (unless they're stupid trends), thank you very much. I also have a 3 year old along with a 16 year old ad a 19 year old (this week). Funny that the daycare assignments consider us too old also. My uterus would disagree. winking smiley
I did a hip hop clothing store which I thought should have had an age resriction. It truned out O.K. - said I was shopping for a niece. I think this one is sooooo stupid - Barnes & Noble age restriction is under 45 (NOT a college campus). We gals (and guys) over 45 are too old to read!!!!!!!!!
Seems like we're too old too read, dress, drink or eat...smiling smiley

I'm going to get one of those lifts when I have an extra $14,000 laying around! It was interesting, but time consuming. I was relieved the report wasn't terrible, but you would think I was getting a new car instead of new face, the "consultant" was the most persistent and annoying salesperson I've ever dealt with. Plus I had really simple questions she kept deferring to the doctor and the only way to actually speak with the doctor is to schedule the procedure, give them a huge down payment and then wait to be refunded if/when you cancel.

The fee is probably $20.00 for an hour of torture. My girlfriend and I actually went to the necklift Dr. in Beverly Hills. Much less than a facelift, only a mere $8000 IF you put down 4000 immediately and schedule visit, otherwise it would be 14,000. I came running out of there, feeling pressure like no other. I was surprised they didn't lock the doors, they took pic's to show ne how awful I looked. I didn't look that bad when I got home, of course I wasn't under a microscope. No thanks.

At least mine was $30! Actually I think the lift alone may have been $8,000 or there abouts. The extra was for an eye job and some type of laser treatment for the skin. I must really look like crapsad smiley

I keep seeing assignments for a hair loss place. The pay is pretty good, but I have a thick, full head of hair so I'm disqualified. I guess I should be happy about it.
