Help with video files to VS companies

Afternoon VS folks,

This my first attempt at playing with video, so bear with me.

Have a question on transfering the PV500 file from sd card to desktop. I insert the sd card on the side slot of the laptop. I open the folder where the video is located. I drag and drop to my desktop. From the desktop, should we be renaming the file or leave it alone? It comes up like this: FAKM0350_20110924123109 (one of four trial videos). I also notice it says under properties: type of file Windows Media Audio/Video file (.ASF) I should leave the file alone as an .ASF file correct?

I want to make sure my first shop tomorrow when sending the files is correct. I don't want to mess anything up. Another company contacted me, and asked to send her a trial shop. The 30 min file (1 gig) took more than eight hours to complete last night sending as an .ASF. I guess that is typical using the CLEAR wireless USB connection.

Any guidance is greatly appreciated. (Also sent this question on Volition)

Labeling can depend on the individual MS. If they don't have specific requirements I label them in a format that's easy for me to keep straight. I've been told that uploads will usually time out with aircards because of the slow connection. On a road trip I tried using both my iPhone as a tether and the hotel wifi. Neither would work and I had to save the jobs until I returned home and could use my high speed connection.

I treid to rename by deleting those junk letters. It messed up my upload with EPMS. I just click rename and type in front of the junk letters. The company will tell you how to label your equipment. What company is your first shop for?
When you have multiple files for a single shop remember to preface each with "Part A" or Part B, etc. Unless the MSC has specified, I start with the community name, then the target name, then the date. Some require the shop #. Just read the instructions from your scheduler, or email them for guidance. Remember, they are there to support you, unlike in the rest of the shopping world.

Poor customer service? Don't get mad; get video.
Hi LisaSTL:

I found my sheet how to send to the specific company (tomorrow). I was doing it correctly for a trial with another company who uses Yousendit too as an option.

If the wireless takes eight hours for 30 mins, I would hate to see how long a one or one and a half would take! <lol> Wow, another expense I didn't think about on sending files. I only use Comcast for very basic tv, might need to find out how much high speed is. I thought my wireless usb would be fine, we shall see.

Prettygul1: I have my first shop tomorrow between 12-4pm with IM. Donna is very personable, and have her on speed dial!

When I have a lot to upload, I ask for permission to burn my files to DVD. It makes it easier for me and I don't have the headaches up the upload. This is not accepted by some companies, so ask before you assume.
Roel, does your Clear Wireless have a data cap per month? Be careful you're not charged for overage.
