Shipping shop dilemma

Here's a funny situation I've found myself in. I belong to Paperback Swap and send books out on a regular basis. I'm pretty happy when a book request coincides with a shipping shop because I can send it for free. But the problem is, most of the books weigh less than 8 oz., and the shop requires 1 lb. 2 oz. So what do I weigh it down with when I'm sending a book to a complete stranger? Today I put in a bag of small red beans (the dry kind, my husband cannot eat legumes now, so I'm happy to get them out of the house) and a note explaining that I could get the shipping for free with a certain weight, tracking and insurance. Ha ha! Any suggestions on what to weigh it down with for the future?

Send the recipient more than one book at a time.

It doesn't work like that. They send a request to PBS for a particular book, PBS sends me the request and I respond with that particular book. I've never had two books going to the same person at the same time, unfortunately.
You can use old magazines or newspapers. Roll and fold to whatever size you need.
