Grocery store shop... I think I'm SOL

I did a grocery store shop this afternoon. I had to briefly evaluate employees in 10 departments, ask a couple of questions, get half a lb. of something at the Deli, and put a big item under a cart. I've done these shops before, no problem. A bit of a PITA, but I know a lot of the names already, so it's not so bad. Problem is, when I got home and was doing the report, I noticed that the deli associate only gave me .43 lbs. of genoa salami, not the required .50. I followed the advise given elsewhere in the Forum and contacted my scheduler, hoping she can intervene. Right now, I am not holding up much hope (although I have not had any negative experiences with this company.) The good news is, since I shop at this grocery store anyway, I am not really losing anything--except the time I spent there and filling out the report.

Did you ask for a half a pound? If so, write that in your report and then say you found the measurement to actually be whatever. It would be highly unusual in my opinion for someone to looks at the ounces at the deli counter and ask for another .7. I don't think I would even give this a second thought if it happened to me.

I don't remember if I put that in my report (there wasn't really a space for that kind of narrative) but I did tell my scheduler. This MSC is laid back (not lax, but not all up in your face, either) so maybe I am not screwed, like you say. I have only been denied payment from one MSC--for something absolutely ridiculous. But I read the posts from other shoppers and I get really nervous.
yep

bakery, customer service, deli, fish, floral, gasoline, meat, pharmacy, produce, plus the center aisle, checkout, and restrooms, but there isn't much to any of the observations or the report. The shop took me 45 minutes because I was actually grocery shopping. I spent ten minutes--15 tops--observing things I ordinarily wouldn't think about. The rest of the time was shopping for things I needed anyway (so I would have a pretext for making the observations). Not sure I would have bought the salami today but, believe me, it will not go to waste.

the shop pay is really awful but since I get reimbursed for groceries I would buy anyway, what the hey.

.07 # of deli meat does not change the shopping experience or report in any meaningful way. I'm sure you'll be fine.

But if they do try to screw you on this, please let us know which MSC is involved.
So, how are they going to even know that you were shorted on your deli order? And, as said before, it does not alter anything in the report, so you should be fine.

I wouldn't worry about it. As has been mentioned the report only askes for the interaction at the deli and the receipt only says how much it cost. I don't think they really care how much you buy as long as you buy something reasonable.

I'm sure its fine
THANKS ALL! The instructions say to ask for half a pound and the receipt shows the actual amount. As I said, I have only had one truly negative experience with an MSC screwing me. That was StN and the issue was over a single word. I have posted about that experience before. I read a lot from other posters not getting paid due to some circumstance beyond their control--e.g., not getting a business card because the rep stormed out of the room, so I started to worry. I will let you know what happens and I will keep my fingers crossed. :-)
I'm sure you'll be fine. have they changed, don't remember evaluating so many, but I just applied (TS) and got all three...never happened before, especially the one near me....must be holidays and folks are out of town.

It's not TS guys. Different MSC and different grocery store--which is only on the east coast, as far as I know. The MSC's name cannot be abbreviated, so I am not sure if I should put it. I know I haven't revealed the name of the grocery store, so I should be ok. Oh experienced shoppers, please let me know.
I fairly new at this board so I dont know if you can say it or not -- but Im on the east coast and I know the grocery store you shop with that half pound. Never had a problem with the deli part.

What I dislike is the bottom of the carriage! sometimes I buy 5 items hardly a reason to use the bottom of the carriage. And I've had the editor question the size of the case I put there. I purchased capri sun juice boxes but I had three of them-- it took up all the space on the bottom and wasnt hard to see ...IF the cashier looked.
Yeah, the cashier didn't notice the 12 pack of bathroom tissue (and I almost forgot about it myself.) At the last minute I noticed and she added it on before I paid for the order. Another MSC allows you to pay for the bottom-of-the-carriage item separately if the cashier doesn't notice. This MSC doesn't have that option. BTW, half the folks here call the carriages buggies. LOL
Jersey, you can reveal either the MSP, or the client, just not both. Or, if you're concerned posting that info here will reveal your identity, then don't reveal.

The deli associate under, not over, sold. Hooray!! A grocery I do, different MSP and client, requires a specified weight from the Deli. A shopper is not going to order .43 when .5 is required. So then, you see the weight on the scale. Are you going to ask for one more slice? No. If it's .57, are you going to ask that a slice be removed? What if that doesn't quite do it ~ a half of a slice?

Let's get real. Hopefully, the MSP sees the reality of this, and you'll be fine.
Well, funny thing, I've lived in the West all of my life and I've never heard them referred to as either of those! We call them baskets, carts, or even baskarts (some stores have that on their signs), but I've never heard of them being called carriages or buggies. That's funny!

In certain limited areas around here they are sometimes referred to as buggies. Surprised me since I'd never heard that until I was about 40 something. Everyone I know calls them shopping cartssmiling smiley

"Let's get real. Hopefully, the MSP sees the reality of this, and you'll be fine." I hope so...but MSCs are unpredictable. I had a big run around with Bare because the clerk wrote something funky on the receipt. The only thing that finally saved me was that the place I was shopping (B scenario) was 75 miles from home. And then there was the StN issue--I said I didn't see a kiosk but rather saw shelves and didn't get paid because the shelves are what the client means by kiosks. It was ridiculous and I have not shopped for StN since. But nothing bad has happened with this MSC yet. It is Caliber and to date I have never had a problem with them.
