Stupid Question: How do you use *67?

Ok, I'm a Luddite, I resist learning anything about any technology until I absolutely have to. Now I have to. The guidelines say, "Make sure you use *67 when you call." I have some vague understanding that this will conceal my true phone number from the recipient's Caller ID. But, how do I use it? What exactly do I do?

It's pretty easy. Just hit the *key, 6 and 7 then the regular phone number.

Say you need to call Susie at 347-555-5555, but you don't want her to know it's you, first hit *67 then 347-555-5555 and it blocks your number from showing up on her caller id.

Hope this helps.
Dagosto - Does your cell phone have the option to "Hide" your number/name or "make it private?"

I don't do recorded phone calls yet (still have a phobia about that), but I do have a lot of other shops I have to make phone calls for - tomorrow I have 39 phone calls to make. ugh!

I looked at my "smart phone" settings and will change my settings to be "Private" so my name & number are not revealed, then when I am finished, I'll change it back. I've already tested it out with family members and they have been asking me, "Why are you coming up 'Private'"?!

Nice little feature, thankfully!

I learned something about my cell phone today-thanks klhofbauer. 39 Phone calls, are you mad!!

Have fun and keep a drink nearby!
Oh wow thanks.

I had a new home shop where I had to call first. I had to block my number becasue the company gave me a number to use for follow up. After calling all day, the guy said, "Your number keeps coming up private." I told him I was at work and the number doesn't show up. But this will be my next excuse, "My daughter was playing with my phone and I don't know how to change it back."

*67 is neat. Until - the person called receives their bill, which itemizes incoming/outgoing calls. In some situations, the caller's number will appear on the bill, even numbers preceded with *67.
Not a stupid question at all, in fact I was wondering that same thing tonight...........
Er, Klhofbauer, I was gonna use my landline. I have a cell -- the gf forced it on me -- but it confuses the hell out of me, and I don't like it. As I said, I'm a Luddite.

This is Ellis again, this phone call. It's not recorded, near as I can tell. And it's "Shop Anyone." So I'm confused about why I'm supposed to conceal my true phone number anyway. Would a normal apartment hunter do that?

Not for me to judge, I guess. I'm just trying to do what they say to do. If they say use *67, by gum, I will use *67. Soon as I can figure out how.

This shop btw has almost nothing in the way of "Special Instructions," leaving me to adapt what they request generally to a "Shop Anyone" with a phone call (apparently) **beforehand**.
