Goodwin - Anyone getting paid?

Hey all,

I have shops dating back to DECEMBER 8th 2011 still not paid. In total I am owe'd well over $400. I sent a request through the website for payment overdue more than 90 days. Still not a word. How do you reach them?

When did you send email? I contacted them, and they got back to me in a few days. I got paid a few more days after that.
Let Ling LaFrambicso and Eric Conson know of your pay issues. Ling is the account spokesperson and Eric is the Senior Operating Manager. Address them to goodwin-associates.com.
I always have to ask for my money. On the 90th day I send a email and seem to get a response. Often the money is put in my Paypal in a dya or two. Looking for the phone number for Market Stat. Cnat seem to find it and they owe me for December shop I did.
Right, I've had to ask for my money as well...hmmm...almost makes you think, what if I forgot to ask?
In most cases, if you don't ask Goodwin for your pay, you won't get paid. It's an interesting business model. I wonder how Goodwin would like it if we made them wait to receive our reports until they asked us 3 times for them.

I guess they figure (or hope) there will be a percentage of shoppers who won't keep good records and will forget what is owed them and they're probably right.

Not me.
A friend who also shops told me that she was paid 7 months later but she never followed up after 90 days. Now me I email on the 90th day and it usually take a while after that to get paid.
I contact them when it reaches 90 days, and am always paid within a few days after that. I think there's only been one occasion when I've had payment remitted without having to ask.
My suggestions (based on experiences and communications with Goodwin).

1. If you are set up to be paid by paypal, call or send the email on/about the 60th day. Their guidelines state if you are being paid through paypal, pay is in 60 days after the report is finalized.

2. If you are set up to get paid by check, call or send the email on/about the 90th day. Their guidelines state if you are being paid by check, pay is in 90 days after the report is finalized.

I have to follow up EVERY time with Goodwin to get paid. In the year + I have been working for them, they have never sent me a payment on their own. EVER.

I usually send an email to the scheduler. She's copied me on the email address to the accounting person. So in the future, I will be emailing the accounting person directly.
I did not get paid from goodwin till i sent an email to a very nice scheduler. I had shops from back in October all the way till the end of December not paid for. I emailed the person who usually schedules me and she got me paid the next day, for ALL my shops!
I got a check in the mail today for a January shop. I'm glad to get the heads-up on this though; I just went to my profile and selected Paypal because somehow I did not see that offered when I first filled it out. And I put my February shop payment prompts 60 days out on my calendar.

Thanks for the info!
Just received this message from G-A--->"Thank you for your email. I see your payment is past due, I apologize for the delay. I will get this posted to your PayPal account within the next 5 days. Thank you for letting us know. We appreciate your patience and support. Best regards, Jackie Vesey.

I would do more shops for them (b/c they definitely have them to be done.) If I did not have to beg them for pay. So why is it we have to beg? It is one thing to wait the 60 days...........but to go 90 days and beg??????????
I just hit the 90-day mark today on my January 3rd shop and I have another shop that is 87 days out. I went to their website. I found a phone number in NH but they are closed right now. I could not find an e-mail address or contact names. What e-mail address are you guys using?

ATTN: G8r1966 ~ MarketStat is another MSC that they don't pay you until you contact them. I sent an e-mail on a Sunday about a month or so ago and I received a PayPal payment within hours. I agree with whoever said that these MSCs might be doing this on purpose hoping that some MSers are not keeping track. I am NOT one of those shoppers!

Shop, I once received an email from them that had this info:

For shopper’s convenience, please send all payment inquiries to: (payment@mysteryshopperprogram.com). Thank you very much.

I find that they do pay me within 24 hours after I remind them. In the past I have emailed the scheduler.

UPDATE: Here is the quick response from one of the Goodwin schedulers/operations manager...

"Thank you so much for alerting me of your payment question. I have brought your question to the attention of the accounting team. You can expect payment for any shops that were completed between 60-90 days ago to be made to you within 10 business days (2 weeks). Payment will likely be sent sooner than that, but please allow 10 business days for processing."

Then she goes on to explain PayPal payments vs. mailed checks. I am registered with PayPal so hopefully I will have it by the end of this week.

ANOTHER UPDATE: Here is an e-mail response from the business office...

"Thank you for alerting us of your payment situation. We started January payments last week and will keep processing throughout the month of April.
According to our records, your Jan. payment has been submitted for processing so you can expect it through Paypal shortly.
Also, you Feb. payment has been scheduled for processing around 4/20/12, so you can expect it through Paypal no later than 4/30/12.
In the meantime, I greatly appreciate your patience. Thank you for being a shopper with us.

Regards,

Ling LaFrambois

Last yr., I accepted and then, after reading of the payment problems, canceled a shop. The scheduler wrote promising I would be paid as agreed, but I maintained my position and extended it by requesting deactivation. Out of curiosity, why do you folks work with an MSC who is so inconsiderate as to require being hounded for payment? With Freeman, the logic is that if one needs a room, but then isn't paid, there's no lose; this certainly is sensible. Is there an advantage to Goodwin of which I'm ignorant? Please share so that I may become knowledgeable
@ shopperbob ~ The only shops that I have performed for Goodwin are food and yogurt shops that I like to do as a treat for myself. These are usually lunches that I would be spending money on anyway. Until this recent payment issue, I have not had a problem getting paid in the past. These shops are not money-makers for me. I just enjoy an organic burger or a creamy froyo every once in a while. :-)

A couple of months ago they were in the process of possibly switching over from the Prophet system to Sassie so maybe that is part of the problem. BTW, they ended up staying with Prophet.

Bob, I recently signed up with Goodwin and performed a few shops for them. I did the shops because they were both enjoyable and very profitable. I was fully aware of their payment issues, so it was an informed assumption of the risk. While my payment will surely be delayed, I've never heard of a shopper who hasn't been paid after contacting them. The pay for my shops will be enough to justify having to remind Goodwin to pay me.

If it doesn't play out as I expect, I'll be vocal with my feedback.
While I was writing my updated info above, my Goodwin payment has shown up in my PayPal account. This company is good, just slow. The staff are nice and they do respond to e-mails quickly. Good luck everyone.

Shopperbob - Goodwin was one of the first companies I signed up for. I don't do that many shops for them. In this area, their clients tend to be restaurants with very few locations, so it's been a way for me to try out new restaurants on their dime. Also, one of their clients is a restaurant/movie theater chain which makes a fun date night for me and my girlfriend. The reports are relatively straight-forward.
So when I take a job for Goodwin, I know what I'm getting into. It's a place that I would go anyway. So if I have to remind them to pay me, it's just the risk/reward I'm willing to take.
Knowing that they do pay once the payment is past due and you ask for it and accepting only jobs that it would be okay if they failed to pay is indeed an informed personal choice. But as a business-like choice for shoppers it stinks. Most shoppers eventually get paid by Freeman and by Franchise Compliance as well. Once again, an informed personal choice is not necessarily the same as a good business choice. Certainly my personal choice in these is the same as my business choice. When a company does not voluntarily and without demand hold up their end of the contract they are not worthy of my trust as a colleague with whom to work.
Thanks to all who shared logical explanations. Personally, I agree with Flash and couldn't have phrased my thoughts any better than those she wrote.
