Sizing Audit of 625 items for $16??

Before joining this forum two months ago I would do practically every assignment, at least once, to get the experience and to build a relationship with the MSC. I also try not to judge assignments before I've performed them because sometimes I'm pleasantly surprised at how simple an assignment is.

But now, thanks to the wonderful network on this board, I can get insight on assignments prior to signing up for them, and I can verify that the voice in my head saying, "This MSC is trippin'" is on point.

An MSC is offering a Sizing Audit of 125 items in 5 departments (625 total) for $16. So the question is, are they "trippin"? smiling smiley

I've done one of these before. IMO they aren't too bad. For instance, if I'm counting junior jeans and there is a whole rack, I peek thoough to verify they are the right department then call it. Some departments like (plus size blouses) you'd have to actually count because there usually arent that many. Then you'd just count the difference in the backup category. There might be a couple misplaced in the department, but in my experience, there's not many. This takes about 30 min in the store and 10 min to enter. I do them if they're near other jobs.

The ones that get me from the same MSC are the ones you have to shop/return and visit jewelery, fitting room and front end. Too much work. Those should pay more.

I take any of these I can get in my area. They are relatively easy after you have done one or two of them. The only department that is difficult is shoes but most times it is clothing only. There is no narrative so the report is simple.
I thought it sounded ok...I haven't done one yet, but am going too. I like the idea I can take my daughter if I want too (she is 2). Not many jobs out there that it is ok to take the kids. $16 bucks, 1 hour work. I am ok with that, if it is close to home or near another assignment.
They want you to check the manufacturer's size tag inside the garment, not the store tag hanging on the garment. It takes over an hour (up to an hour and a half) to count out and check the size tag inside 625 garments. It will take some extra time if you get shoes and they are mixed up, which they usually are.

I just did one of these shops today. I say it was easy breezy! I realize it sounds like a lot of counting, but it seriously goes fast. Also, you only have to check the inside tag if the outside tag is missing. The report is the fastest, easiest one that I have ever done!
I love these shops. The audit generally takes me just a tad over an hour. The report takes just minutes to log.

I also do the other one where you have to go the fitting room, jewelry case , etc, buy something and return it. Easy peasy reports.

I try to get the jobs whenever I can.
Wow! Thanks everyone who responded and for those who are going to respond. I guess I was the one "trippin" LOL!

That's why I love this forum. I really appreciate the feedback.

Peachgirl - I looked over the instructions again and you're absolutely right. You only need to look inside if there is no outside ticket. I'm wondering if that is a change from the way it was when I started doing these way back when. That may speed up the process. On some items it will be quicker to check the mfg's tag, and on some quicker to check the Ross tag. I have three of these audits in April. Thanks for the information.

Yes.. the pay isn't much, but it's quick and easy and usually requires no money. It takes about an hour, as long as you don't loose count and no one is watching you.. then you have to move or start pulling things off the rack to look like a customer.

Of course not! The MSC has lost touch with reality. They ask a shopper to be covert in neighborhoods where shoplifting occurs freequently.

The store security is watching you NOT buy anything for a half hour. You are acting as a shoplifter would who is looking for an opportunity to make a "five fingered discount". I wonder how may shops are actually completed.

If a Shopper is mistaken for a shoplifter the store may "plant" something on the shopper to avoid a law suit. I would not take the risk.
Thanks for this topic! I had looked at these shops, but the guidelines sounded confusing and convoluted so I passed over them.

Now these jobs don't sound too bad, and I LOVE this store! I get a lot of my "future birthday and Christmas gifts" at this store.
