The same way as any other video shop. The client does not care that the cam will be covered part of the time while you are in the chair. I did one, and got some valuable work done and a ton of x-rays to take to my real dentist, plus a very nice fee.

The only dental shop that I have ever seen stated that the camera NEVER be turned off during the visit. Then it went on that you were not allowed to use the restroom during the visit or to make any obnoxious body noises.... and this was from a reputable MS company! I still laugh to myself everytime I think of what sort of recording must have prompted those requirments!
kday,
Veteran video shoppers expect reputable video shopping companies to edit out necessary bathroom breaks. Turning off the video cam during a shop for a bathroom visit is inviting disaster. Denying the shopper bathroom breaks in what might be a 2.5 hour scenrio is ridiculous. Any video company without editing capability is not playing with the big ogs at all.

I did several dental shops...They can be long and depending on the dentist a little painful...But you get a lot of free stuff and a good cleaning....Funny thing is , I got different results from each dentist about the condition of my teeth...
In these cases the offices have given permission in advance.

I did one and was quite pleased. I got free x-rays and a teeth cleaning and paid a good sum on top of that! It doesn't matter that the video will be covered during part of the exam. Who can blame the MSC for not wanting you to go to the bathroom while you've got the camera on! Eeww!
I just found these and I could kick myself because they are taken. I did say I wouldn't like to do these but for the pay....
pretty,
Never mind. They come back around regularly and seem to be difficult to fill, so you will get your shot at them, I'm sure.

There are several posts on this. Video dental shops are quite a diffetent monster. Pays well yet im picky with how many dentists go inside of my mouth per year.
Will anyone give out the name of the company who does dental?
I am having difficulty finding anything higher than the $8. shops.
I have not been doing this very long and am open to any ideas anyone is willing to share.
I an in the deep South so, I probably would not be trodding on anyone's territory.
Thank
Are you a video shopper?

It's not the easiest. Video shops involve using special covert rigs utilizing a button camera. A couple of video companies will loan equipment and train shoppers, but many of us own our equipment. A video camera runs $400 plus. You have to be able to capture the target in the frame for a large percentage of the time, so training and practice are essential. At this point most video shoppers have to travel since the pool of jobs is still relatively small and the rotations are long, at least a year up to never again.

How much input do I have to do. I just did an apt for them and the input is not that much.
@prettygul1 It really depends on the shopper scenario given by the MSC and its client. All video shops are not created equal, you know. There have been MSCs that are quite stringent in their instructions where you can't make any bodily noises, etc while other companies just want you to go with the flow and get a regular exam. Having done these types of shops with different MSCs, the guidelines are comparable yet slightly different.

Best advice I can give: invest in the extended battery life battery for your camera.
I've done everything but video. My battery is 3 hours. Have you done dental before? I just had real work done and I was there for a little over 2 hours.

There is a video shop I have seen in a town of 400 people.

How would you possibly conceal your identity? That dentist must know everyone in town!

And there is no motel in town, so a tourist scenario doesn't fly.

Hmmmm.....
Don't worrry. The dentist is probably the client, checking up on howher/ his staff performs.

Oh, I see.

I am not tempted in the least - I have a terrible dental phobia due to really really bad childhood dentistry.

It's like taking a cat to the vet to get me in the door of a dental practice.

I was just puzzling over how it would actually get accomplished.

That's gotta be one lonely dentist. There isn't another town for 45 miles in any direction.
I just took two dental shops and emailed the company to see what service I should have done. They have not answered as of yet. Can you get anything done?
Glad to hear I'm not the only Missy. The scheduler won't even ask me to do them because it takes sedation for me to visit the dentist and that would not make for a good video shop.

prettygul, I thought they were just for cleaning.

I still get sick feelings in my stomach whenever I smell that "dentist office smell". The only things I ever liked about the dentist, when I was little, was the laughing gas and the free toy.
My high school prom date became a dentist. He now lives in Jupiter, FL and has a very profitable private practice. He is also 6'2", tan and movie star-handsome. (Of course, not as handsome as my DH)

In high school, he was a skinny, quiet band geek, but I saw potential....
I have done 20+ dental shops (just did 4 this week!) and every one of them has been for an exam, cleaning, and x-rays. That's it. I've never seen them for any other work, because it's the dentist who is requesting the shop; you really don't evaluate the dentist and any work that needs to be done would be done by the dentist. The main evaluation is the office staff and hygienist.

I LOVE these. It's super easy, high paying, and sometimes quite entertaining....

I have done a bunch of these shops as well as video tire rotation/oil change shops...same experience. Different advice from each. Funny.

I haven't grown a second head yet, so I think it's fine. :0)

I did check into that question though, and I was told you get more radiation exposure popping a bag of popcorn in the microwave.
