Any thoughts on revealed jobs?

personally im not too paranoid but does anybody decline anything which lets them be revealed because they are worried it may hurt them in the future?

I don't do them as a matter of policy. I much prefer unrevealed and anytime you reveal yourself there are that many more people who know you are a shopper and another place you can't go to for quite awhile. It's just my preference but then only the closest of my friends and family know I shop too. Most people just think I am a compulsive shopper - they have no idea.

I like reveal jobs and just did one last week at a ff seafood place. I only do reveals at places I am not likely to ms.

I did a revealed shop on a place I shop. I won't shop it for a few months. Its doubtful that I will be remembered.
I don't mind them...they usually pay more...the ones I've done were audit shops and not any place I've mystery shopped...the paperwork can be a PITA on some...I don't think I'd mystery shop some where I did a revealed shop...in my case it's never come up in 3yrs of shopping...yet I'm still new at this...
It is my policy not to do the revealed shops. First, I do not do fast food, where most of those occur. Second, it's my job to stay concealed.

Based in MD, near DC
Shopping from the Carolinas to New York
Have video cam; will travel

Poor customer service? Don't get mad; get video.
I am doing some revealed shops now but the likeliness of those shop being MS is zero to none. So I am okay with it. I also won't do a revealed shop, that are later MS.

I don't have a memorable face but I will remember. Revealed shops also appear to be smaller shops. So you can't really hide in the crowd. :-)
I consider them, but it depends on the fee, and if it's a place I would want to repeat shop on a future rotation.
Many of the shops I do are revealed each month. About half. No problem doing them either way. I always find it amusing some of the excuses the managers give for things that are wrong...

Me, too, Techman. Especially for the gas station mystery shop/audits I do. The attendants/manager come up with flimsiest of excuses to explain discrepancies and even offer to correct the problem on the spot if I will change my scoring. Of course, I know they will reset it back to the way it way after I leave so I don't bother changing my report. I especially like the stations where the attendant is not wearing a proper uniform but changes as soon as I reveal myself. Then, if I happen to pop back into the store after I am done, they have taken their uniform off again.

Nope. I don't have a problem with the revealed shops. If they do great, I'm all kinds of positive. If they don't, I'm empathetic towards them. I ususally take reveals where I don't go often. But even then I've done Subways and such where I visit occasionally.

I have a bigger issue with the shops that make us ask stupid questions. Either the associate thinks I'm a huge idiot (and I feel like one) or they know I'm the shopper and we're both aware they know but they think I'm an idiot because I think they think I think I'm slick when I think I'm a dumb ass for taking the jobs with the stupid questions.
Absolutely I refuse revealed jobs to protect the mystery shop possibilities.

Some clients have both revealed audits and mystery shops at the their locations. I typically refuse those revealed audits.

Also, I don't do as many revealed shops or audits as I might because I don't want my face to be known as an auditor so that when employees see me later, say, at another job, they know me as a possible mystery shopper at the new location.

If there were more revealed audits than mystery shops I might do more audits. However that is not the case.

Happily shopping Rhode Island and nearby Massachusetts and Connecticut
I have no problem with revealed shops or audits. I'm a person who lives a life. For instance, If I do an audit at a cell phone company and then a few months later go in and inquire about a phone (mystery shopping or not), I am still a customer.

They can assume or not assume I am shopping them. If they put a lot of thought into it, they might assume I am not shopping them. Why would I audit them revealed then come in as a mystery shopper? Hmmmm.....keeping them on their toes!

As shoppers, we are more keenly aware of small details and think too hard into these type issues. The general population does not remember or pay that much attention.

If there is job available and the pay is right, I take it!
I don't have a problem with revealed shops but they have to pay enough to make them worthwhile. I'm pretty negative about fast food reveals. The first reveal I did was at a Burger King - for $6! Never again. Before I could do the shop I had to have prizes ($25 giftcards) delivered by FedEx. I had to be home to sign for the package. FedEx couldn't find my house although I've lived here 23 years and gotten previous deliveries. After 2 days I made a trip to their far-away distribution center and picked up the package. My trip to FedEx, of course, wasn't the MSC's fault - but even without the trip, having to be home to sign to receive prizes when I'm being paid $6 is pretty cheap. Then a trip thru the BK drive-thru; yes, she asked the question, and I went in to talk to the manager and distribute the gifts while my food got cold. The manager and I had to list all the card numbers and he signed for them, then I had to package and FedEx back the remaining cards. Then I got to eat my cold burger and fries and contemplate the big six bucks I got. AND the MSC came back to me saying they did not receive the package with the leftover giftcards and I had to contact FedEx.....after which the company found that they had actually received my package. It made the $7.50 unrevealed McD shops look a lot better.
I did a few a long time ago and I only did them at locations I would never be visiting again. for me, now, it is not worth the hassle or the low pay, esp with gas being with it is now. When I did them, gas was maybe $1.29 a gallon.
I have done these in the past, but won't do them anymore. No one needs to know that I am a secret shopper! ;-o
