Be sure to get only equipment that meets the technical standards of the video shopping companies. For details, see the area about equipment on the Video Shopping Forum (VSF). That is also where you will find details about buying PV-500 equipment either through Measure Consumer Perspectives of using the Instant Repays buyer discount code. Either way, it's best to start by doing some shops with equipment shipped to you by the company, before you lay out $325-$420 for adequate equipment.

Poor customer service? Don't get mad; get video.
You can also purchase your video equipment directly from PI Gear. They are in NJ (as am I). When I had an emergency and needed a new mic, I was able to get one that day by driving a few minutes out of my way. The gas price was off set by not having to pay for shipping and there was no lost time.

I also recommend taking one of Undercover Essentials' workshops. You can find them on volution or www.undercoveressentials.org.

I got into video shopping within the first year of beginning my mystery shopping career. I learned more from Carrie about mystery shopping in general than I had figured out on my own. It was WELL worth the cost & time spent!
I was registered with one of Carrie's workshops in Orlando earlier this year but she canceled it and refunded my money. Then I heard she also canceled the workshop scheduled for the Chicago conference. Does anyone else offer video training?

Does video shopping requiring editing? Or do you just shoot video and sound and upload it somewhere?

Video shops can get edited, but that is not our responsibility. Most, if not all, have gone to uploading it directly to them.

EPMS does loan equipment and provide some training. Have you checked with them? Loaned equipment includes a "rental fee" which just means you make maybe $10 less than a shopper with their own equipment. The fees are still pretty good and it's never a bad idea to find out if video is for you before making the larger investment.
