Digital Voice Recorder and Accessories

Who uses a digital voice recorder and why? Isn't it time-consuming to transcribe the notes? Or is that so very "old school?"

If I buy a voice recorder, is it necessary to buy the noise canceling microphone and/or telephone pick up as accessories?

For you video shoppers, I am assuming that you wouldn't need to use this type of equipment but I could be wrong. All thoughts are welcome. Thanks.

There are several threads on ths subject. But, as for v-shoppers not needing a voice recorder....not so. The video rig is much too cumbersome to be used for just audio recording, although it is fine for video. My voice recorder fits into my bra (guys often put it into a shirt pocket). For many shops requiring exact quotes, I wouldn't be without an audio recorder. Many find the phone pick-up very useful, but for just a few phone calls, it will do the job if you just put your phone on "speaker".
Try doing 15-18 short shops on an airport circuit, all requiring several exact quotes each without a voice recorder; I will be happy to drive you to the funny farm afterwards, lol.

I totally agree with wales. I won't bother with the video camera if my day is strictly written shops. I actually use the recorder on my phone these days. It just saves carrying other equipment. If you are going tp purchase a voice recorder, consider getting the type that allows you to upload audio. It's not that much more expensive and one audio shop will pay the difference.
