PC Drop off

OK, who did this will know what I am talking about. Staple PC drop off. I applied blindly because I could not see the instructions. Do they really pay for repair? I got a laptop that has the modem fried....am I that lucky???? Or not? Since I will get the new laptop tomorrow LOL.
I would have posted it in the general discussion area, but it's gone. I no longer know where to post my non MSC questions LOL

charoup, what are you talking about? banned from WHAT?
I don't think they pay for the repair. I think they pay for a PC tune-up
"charoup, what are you talking about? banned from WHAT?"

I think he is claiming that he got banned from the General Chat area.

Maybe Walmart banned him for frauduently "borrowing" that $100 Camera from them.
Charuop,
If this is the same MSC that does this shop in NH, you can see the directions before you accept the shop. Right under where it asks you the date you'll do the shop, there is a link that says "view" Click that link and you can see the form.
How this shop works. You need a laptop or desktop with Windows 7, Vista or xp and it needs to boot. You take it in and they'll run diagnostics ($69.99) You will be paid for the diagnostics. If they determine that memory is needed, you need to buy the memory (not reimbursed). There are a couple of other things they will reimburse for, but I can't remember what. You could reimbursed for up to $150 if I remember correctly.
You have two forms to fill out: one after you drop the computer off and one after you pick it up. The forms are mostly multiple choice and easy to fill out. And this MSC does pay quickly.
I haven't seen these offered around my area lately, but my recollection is what eclark3 described. I'd make sure you delete any files that are easily recognizable as related to MSing before you take it in. The ones I've done went easily except one where I had to call to find out if it was ready to pick up.
Remember to empty the Recyle Bin after you delete stuff.
I did a tuneup, but they came to the house...upto $99.00 for an hours work is how mine went.

Live consciously....
This thread is kind of dizzying :]

Yes, an MSP has a PC repair shop where you take your computer in, and request one of the approved services. It's a fair shop with good pay. Chat with the tech first to see if you get a feeling of confidence.
Yes thewas the view, but I went click happy sad smiley
I thought it would have been too nice to be true. But hey, a tune up is good too. Hee hee, deleting MS files was main thought.
Thank you for the info.

I did this one by taking my son-in-law's laptop in. Despite the fact that I had it checked for virus and cleaned up, it doesn't run any better now than it did before I took it in for work to be done.
I did this shop as well. My tuneup/fond virus/restore came to almost 150.00 and they paid for the whole thing.

Mine runs like a dream-new machine.
