Which type of shop do you like best?

I have found that I like retail and audit shops. I have been experimenting with doing different types of shops that I have never done before. I do not like shops where I have to try clothing on. I hate to go to dressing rooms.

I very rarely do clothing shops because the pay is generally low, I don't like trying on clothes and I really dislike P/R.

The shops that I like best are the ones that have a reimbursement benefit that is useful to me and makes the fee + reimbursement a worthwhile expenditure of my time. My next is in depth shops such as bank platform shops when they are actually paying a fair fee for a real evaluation instead of some piece of fluff that would seem to be a waste of everybody's time.
Fee + reimbursement, hands down. First choice is if it's of practical use to me, (oil changes, carpet cleaning, et al). Second choice is a splurge I would not do, but grab the opportunity to work for it.

Everyday shops I like best are retail, FF, new homes and grocery. Oh, and airports are fun - and you don't even have to fly!
I like bank platform shops and whatever doesn't cost me big money up front. Sometimes money is tight enough that it's hard to fork over lots of little fees. Bank shops let you learn things without spending a cent. I also prefer non-revealed shops.

Anything that pays over $20 and doesn't require purchase and return or test-driving a car.
I actually don't mind the ones that ask you to try on stuff-I use those few minutes to sit down and catch up on notes! Robyn in AZ
I too like bank shops. They are fairly easy to do and you don't have to spend any money, I'm getting really good at the bank shops!!! LOL
I also love the bank shops, especially the teller shops for my own banks.

I like shops where I can spend under 10 minutes at a location, make over $10, and fill out a report that doesn't take longer than 10 minutes. I also like shops that don't require me to upload a bunch of pictures or write pages of narratives.

So, basically I like bank shops, gas station shops (the NON picture ones!!), and compliance shops.

What I HATE are electronics shops, cell-phone shops, and any kind of clothing that I wouldn't personally buy or wear.
poofoo80,

Who does non photo gas staion shops please????

Thanks Much.
The gas stations I do are the general type that most people hate and they don't pay well till the end of the month. These do require pictures, but I'm ok with this particular one because I'm so used to them. Otherwise, I HATE pictures. I just love the reports though because I can do them really fast.
I guess I'm wierd. I love the ones with photos. And I agree with HB, I like audits because I don't have to make a purchase.

That sounds great.....Our Gas Station shops are only $5, so I've never done one and the bank jobs are usually taken before I can sign in to the site!

I can't wait to find a shop with a 10 min report. The last report I did took me over an hour to do!!
The gas station reports for the easy shops for the BILLION dollar C oil company take less than 5 minutes to input. The questions seem to stay the same every time they change MSC's. There are no photo's. But the same oil company does other shops that are more involved, revealed, and require photos. Ross stores is a ten minute report.

There are MANY ten minute reports. In general, however, the trned for those is for MSC's that do not pay that well either.

Work with one of the companies that does fine dining, hotels, resorts, spas very closely for a very long time turning in near perfect reports with narrative the editor needs to do no more than read through. After a time you may build enough senority with the company to be entrusted with a cruise shop. Don't expect them to hand out the more costly shops to folks with whom they have no track record. They don't want to deny you payment and reimbursement any more than you would like to be denied it. And once the ship has sailed there can be no reshop.
I have been doing a lot of bank shops lately. Some gas stations. I was wondering what company does burger king use.
I see burger king here mostly as a shop by the beverage company rather than the franchise.
I like apartment shops, I get to see lots of cool apartments and facilities, there is no out of pocket and they pay more.
I like all of them,The fine dinning does take more time to do a play by paly of what went on but you can do some good cash,
I would like to know which websites do banks and gas stations?? Please help me out there . Thanks
I like the casinos, retail stores, auto dealerships, restaurants, and pharmacies that you can do many and are quick and easy! Most of the above will net you at least in the $20/hr spent.
Ilike to eat & shop the most because I like going to the mall & walk around
it's even better when someone pays u to shop & u get to keep everything.
I like the bank/credit union shops the most. I have learned a great deal about home equity loans, etc. The reports are pretty easy and I get paid over $10,$12,$15-$25. They also offer bonuses too. I average about 15 or more per month of those type shops. I also like pharmacy shops, furniture stores, jewelry stores, they all pay $18 or more.I like MS, but I think I'm sort of picky or should I say a "lazy" shopper since I have a busy fulltime job. I don't like reveal shops, and have never done them. I want to get in and out and keep my identity private for the most part.
I find I like banking shops the most
Over the last few months of being an active MS, I enjoy doing the shops for things I already need....kids apparel, maternity clothes (gee, no one else signed for them so I got 3 of them), dining out, oil changes, etc. I know they sometimes don't pay as well, but if Im going to buy it anyway, why not get it for free or make a few extra bucks writing about it. If it works with my schedule and where Im going to be that day AND I can take my kids with me....Im sold! In contrast, I enjoy audits too....2 hrs away from the kids is payment enough!

Have yet to try apartments, banks or gas stations but Im up for it if they become available. I look forward to reveals too.

I think its a shame that Starbucks, for example, can't be shopped by a former employee. I understand the reason of bias my come into play, but I was manager for years (many years back) and feel overly qualified to give them the feedback as they require it....too many times my store would receive a "snapshot" with insufficient information that could very negatively affect an associates standing or even bonuses of the management. Oh well, bygones.

Happy shopping everyone!
I find it interesting that about the only area in which prior employment seems to be a plus is in hotels and restaurants. I can understand the concerns about bias and that is usually handled by a question such as, "Have you or any family members or close friends worked at XYZ in the past 2 years?" I think most of us exercise good judgment in regard to potential conflicts but certainly don't mind them asking me to make a written representation.

As far as bias for years to come, your post brings up an interesting twist on the conflict question. I would suspect that you personally or people you cared about were hurt by shopper reports. At the same time, that snapshot is what happened with a particular unbiased individual on a particular interaction. If a company makes a decision regarding standing or bonuses based on one report (unless that report mentioned truly offensive or unlawful, grossly unsanitary or similar situations), then shame on them. There are shops I do once a month and other shoppers do 3 other times per month where bonuses are determined. But the bonuses are quarterly and are based on 4 reports per month for 3 months. In a 'normal' statistical universe, the best and worst reports would be tossed and the bonus would be based on average scores of the remaining 10. If I went into this store with prior experience in that line of business, I might note things as 'ok' that were specified in my report instructions as not ok, or I might downgrade that were ok per my report instructions because they were unacceptable in my former employment. But I am hired to put on the hat of a customer and determine whether X, Y, and Z occurred from the perspective of a customer.
I have discovered I really like the revealed and the audit shops.
