Publix

Sorry I'm just venting here. I did one of these yesterday and another again today. NEVER AGAIN. I mean I like that there's no narrative, just yes/no questions, but seriously some of the questions you have to ask are ridiculous. It might as well be a revealed shop because half the people you interact with know you're shopping them. And I have no desire to do a revealed shop. Uggggg.

Given the rotation requirements, I don't feel uncomfortable, or suspect. Today, albeit a different grocer, I stood next in line to a guy who ordered 3/8 a pound of Havarti. Huh? A few weeks ago, a lady took a family-sized package of chicken wings, priced accordingly, to the butcher and asked if he would re-package it into three packages. Reality can be stranger than shop requirements.

Though the shop requires numerous observations and interactions, few reports are easier than Publix. I'll gladly take yourssmiling smiley
The ones I have the biggest problem with are meat, seafood, and floral. I mean come on. Nobody asks any of those seafood questions that you have to ask verbatim. The deli is actually the easiest for me. I buy deli meat every week anyway, and I always buy low sodium which fits in well.

I agree the reports are EASY though. Like. Super easy.

Love the company that shops them. Questions are a bit strange.
Easy shop and money back every 2 weeks. I do many of these...smiling smiley

Shopping Bama and parts of Georgia.
I'm still learning 24/7.
The only problem I have is doing "grocery" special request, as my Publix stocks the items that supposedly needed to be special order.
Publix is so super fussy about providing the best customer service, I suspect they want to know how well and how fast their people are responding to the most unusual requests they can think of. I guess that's why they maintain such a loyal following even though they are usually one of the most expensive stores in an area. The two closest grocery stores to me are a Publix and a Wal Mart Neighborhood. Everybody thought the WM would put the Publix out of business, but it hasn't hurt it one bit. I'll grab a Publix shop any time I can since there's always something I need, and their own brand is almost always as good as a name brand. (I swear I've never worked for them or own their stock.)
I absolutely LOVE these shops!

I ask the same questions every time, unless the person in front of me asks first, which has happened. I've heard people asking some really wacky questions and making crazy requests, so I don't feel like what I am asked to do is out of the ordinary at all.

The MSC pays on time every time and the reports are so so easy! There's rarely anything out of order at these stores also, which makes it even more simple. No remembering names. No purchases for things I'm not going to buy anyway. No hanging out looking suspicious for way too long. Great shop!
Perhaps I should just get over the whole feeling stupid for asking the odd questions. Because other than that I love the shops. I shop there anyway, and I don't think I had to put a single "no" on either of the 2 I've done so far.

Publix is private and you cannot own their stocks unless you are an employee...in which case, you can't shop them.
They have the same "special order" item for over 5 years now. They really need to change it!
There is a new MSC shopping Publix in September. I have no way of knowing if both MSCs will do it concurrently or Publix is changing MSCs, however Publix shops appeared on the job board for one of the largerst MScs. Same questions and paperwork.
Is there a way to see what the special department is before accepting the shop.. I have given the shop back when it is a depot that I choose not to do for the other MSC.
With the new company, I was not able to see what the dept was until I accepted the shop and found it on the CPI.
It looks like the total pay and reimbursement is $2 more.
I thought: $8 bucks for 8 Departments...

Just wondered if you guys liked doing this one and any problems you encountered?

Then, I rethought: $18 bucks, free groceries, lots of observations. smiling smiley

See if I fall in love with this kind of shop or not...
Nothing shown in my area for the very, very large MSC. This would probably not be considered a good thing for Publix to end up with this MSC
I agree it's not a good thing, but it is what it is.
$8 for 8 department? I don't have those stores in my area, but it doesn't sound something I would be interested.
I prefere Sprouts...they pay $10 for 4 deaprtments plus $20 reimbursemnt (but I usually end up spending $60+ LOL).
I went to my first and only publix ever in hilton head on vacation and i was thinking "wonder if they mystery shop this place"......service was horrid, store was dirty, not a pleasant experience for me.
Currently most of them pay $16 with a $9 purchase requirement.

This one pays $8 with a $10 reimbursement...
I think that's very unusual for a Publix although I do believe that the further away from its roots (Florida) it is more and more difficult to maintain quality. I think this this is especially prevalent with grocery chains.

I would move to do some! They sound pretty good and I miss my grocery stores!
Supposedly, one chain quit shopping, the upscale grocery has too much writing and I can't get my
local store any more because of the competition (used to get at least 2 a month). Ugh! And I haven't seen the competitor department shops in at least a year.....

The required time is now 30 minutes instead of 20, but they suggest staying an hour. No way!
I wouldn't mind doing these in Publix' that I don't normally go in. I'm in the one by my house at least 3x a week and most of the people recognize me there. I felt kind of odd asking them some of the questions. I'm doubt I'll do them again, but you never know. It's still on the old MSC board for my area, not the new one.

The old MSCs has the new batch posted for the same time frame (dates and hours) as the new one.
per the old msc....the client is staying with them

Thanks for letting us know!

30 minutes would work for me since I am still averaging about 40 minutes per shop. Less if no pharmacy.

And I got my September shops through the "old" MSC because none are showing in my area to me at least. But then again, I have never performed a shop for the "big" MSC.

I just skimmed the guidelines for next weeks shops and did not see the 30 minute requirement. The response sheet still refers to 20 minutes.
