High end jewelry shop

Hi everyone, now that the kids are going back to school I can get back to work! I have a high end jewelry shop coming up and I wanted to know if you all had any tips for success. As always, any advice is greatly appreciated. :-)

I never ask about price until required by the scenario, and never show any emotion at hearing the price. I might say, "That's reasonable." if allowed by the scenario.

Thanks Mike! I will keep that in mind.

As for what to wear, now that I've had a little rum and can think more clearly, I wore a blazer, nice dress shirt and nice jeans to a watch shop recently. The other customers were in cut off jeans and flip flops...

Depends where you are, I guess. T-shirt and jeans would have been fine for me on that particular shop.

I don't generally think there's a need to dress "up" for a high end shop. But again, may not hurt to walk by the store once to get a feel for what customers wear, if you are not sure.

That's another great idea Mike, I think that I would probably dress business casual because it tends to give me more confidence if I'm looking purty :-)

It depends what they sell. They might be selling a wide range of prices and people in flip flop were buying $5 ear rings smiling smiley
That said, I worked in a hotel a few years and customers full of money. Jeans was very common with maybe a sweater.
Guidelines often ask for cloths that make you look like you are full of money, while people with money really look like everyone else....of course their jeans and mine have different prices winking smiley

That's a great point Italiano, I know people that have a lot of money but you wouldn't know it by the way that they ress.

Don't buy anything. You'll erase your profit! (I just told my jewelry store story on another thread.
My husband went back and bought the necklace I fell in love with during the shop. I will not say how much I ended up in the hole for that one.....!)

I have done the highest end jewelry store "Cartier's", and although dressed well, did not wear jewelry, only diamond studs.
When viewing a piece of expensive jewelry, don't gasp at the price, or look at the ticket. Pretend money is of no consequence. Be soft and classy, like you should be there. The watch I looked at cost $14,000 and was on the low end. Believe me, I loved it, but had to go home to my 39.95 watch....we can dream!!

Thanks Irene! As a woman that looks at the price of everything, I will keep my intense shock at the prices to myself.

I have to tell you, I did my Chanel handbag yesterday and there was a customer that just bought a 3,000 handbag.
I asked to see wallets, and she came over and looked at the wallet I was looking at, asking me which I liked best....
without looking at the price, she bought it for 900.00. Someone's doing something right, not me!!

I think that even if I were to win the lottery I would still watch my money. I can't see myself buying a $38,000 purse for example no matter how much money I have. I might rent one though lol!

The "Money is no object" is SOP for any high-end shop. On one of my 911 shops I was asked about purchasing the vehicle and I told the Sales Consultant that I would need to check with my financial counselor before deciding whether to finance or write a check...and we hadn't discussed the price at that point.

Great point! I don't wear a watch so I should be okay.

I've done many high end jewelry, handbag, auto, and furniture shops. I find it helpful to visit the shop or brand website to gain a familiarity with the product.

Just act natural and very interested. That works for me.

MSPA Gold
Shopping Long Island
Have Video Camera
I did a shop for Fendi. The purse I liked was 4k. I even went back the next week to look at it again while I was just browsing the mall with a friend. -sigh- It was pretty winking smiley It can be intimidating at first to act natural. I had that and a LV shop same day, same mall. While brands don't usually get to me, I sure wished I had enough to afford a small wristlet! lol
Have fun!
The style here for young folks are jeans with holes sold in high end stores like Fred Segal for 200.00, but here it's all
about the brand.
