Do car rental agencies get shopped?

I need to rent a car for my vacation in October but I have never seen or heard anything on the forum about shopping car rental agencies. Anyone?

they get shopped for mostly quick shops that dont allow
or reimburse for a vehicle for an extended time. Also
many are video.

The ones I have seen are video, and you have to return the car 15 minutes after you rent it.

Dead giveaway it's a shop, IMHO.

Business Evalaution Concepts had them a few years back for short trips only.

It was for a tiny unknown rental chain in Los Angeles, not the majors such as Hertz, Avis, etc.

@ Cettie ~ Would you feel comfortable posting the initials or a hint to the MSC name? There is a good chance that I am already registered with them but I have never seen a car rental shop. If you don't want to give a hint, I totally understand.

Per forum rules and your ICA's, once client has been mentioned, the MSC cannot be mentioned. It's an either/or situation the MSC can be named or the client can be named, but not both in the same thread. Hints are considered naming by most posters.

I don't think I have ever seen a shop for car rentals that would work out for using the car on vacation. They are almost always quick returns or have a 1-day max.

I used to take the airport parking shops that would reimburse up to week when I travelled, but even those have been reduced to 24-hours or less these days.
I've only seen the same thing too steve. Many have switched to video as well.

These days I see rentals for mid-to full size cars for 150 or less a week from the
bigger brands of hertz and enterprise. Just have to know how to navigate their
complex pricing schemes they use these days to get the lower pricing.

... and sign up for the rewards programs with the rental companies as well.

They will email you specials, and if you do travel shops, you can accrue enough points for free rentals, just like the free hotel nights.
Here's the only hint I'm giving---the company is in the list of MS companies found on this forum.

I disagree with you. There is a current thread that gives lots of hints about what politicians like and what is at the base of your lawn. In past threads, posters have referred to hedgehogs and flying cows for certain fast food and casual dining shops. I've even seen the initials of the company posted.

I thought it was pretty simple.

If you name the MSC, you can't name the client. If you name the client, you can't name the MSC.

Am I missing something? Is there more to it than that?
James is right and what is being done on those other threads is wrong. Just because some people drive 80 doesn't make that the speed limit.

I agree with shop2live. :promptly gets nauseous and throws up:

There is nothing to agree or disagree with. The forum rules are clear and the hints being thrown around are a clear violation.

Ah, I thought hints were ok, but admittedly I haven't read the forum rules. Forum rules are like instructions for putting together ready to assemble furniture. Nobody every reads them until you need them.

I disagree. In New Jersey they passed a law saying
if you are doing slower then the flow of traffic in the left
or center lanes they will pull you over for driving too
slow, regardless of whether you were doing the 65mph
speed limit or not. So if most are doing 75 and you are
doing less, they hand out tickets there...

They are directly below the text box every time you post. The fourth sentence says it all.

You disagree with what? Regardless of what the police are or are not doing, that doesn't change the law now does it? It reminds me of being a child and using the excuse, "everyone else is doing it." You can choose to violate the rules or to abide them, but your choice does not change them.

I guess that sentence is open to interpretation. I don't see "thou shalt not hint" in there, but I can see where it could be taken either way.

Lisa, who are you talking to?

disagree with your speed limit analogy...
In New Jersey if the speed limit is 65 and
more vehicles then not are doing 75, and you come
along doing 68, the speed becomes what the majority
are doing, and by doing 68 you are now breaking the law,
so they can(and do) issue you a ticket for driving too slow(impeding the flow of traffic)

For clarification, I never asked for the specific MSC or client name. I never mentioned a specific MSC or client name. I asked, "Do car rental agencies get shopped?" I think that is a very generic question. In another post, I asked someone who responded if they wanted to give a hint and then I even said that if she did not want to that I totally understood.

After checking the online deals for many of the car rental agencies, I can get a great deal for a week and not have to worry about writing a report. So thanks to everyone who responded.
