Is iPoll a waste of time?

Yeah, good luck with that. I think their mobile phone app might like you more than it likes me.

The jobs in my area on Gigwalk are all retail merchandising jobs and not mystery shops. They pay $12-15.

That sounds about right, though I think there may be some overlap between merchandising work, and mystery shopping here. On the wave 1 gigs, often it may be necessary to do merchandising work, where you might have to go in the back stock room, and bring out a display to the sales floor. On the wave 2 version of the same gigs, usually this has already been done, in which case the task is more like an audit and like mystery shopping work in the sense that you are checking to see if the previous person did their job.

And even if it is a wave 1 version of the gig, it could in some cases also be thought of as an audit if the store associates have already brought it out to the sales floor once you get there. So yeah, there's that, and there have also been other gigs for $9 each where the task was clearly audit only, with no set up, of which I would think as being like mystery work as well because you are checking to see if someone else has done their job properly. Based on that, I think it's fair to say that on average their gigs go for about $10 each.

I'm not sure why you would. From what I can tell, Rewardable appears to be an app for consumers to save money on things they were already going to purchase, and not a tool for professional shoppers. Just about all the shops I see posted on there involve spending more money than you are reimbursed for. For example, spend $5 at a Pasta shop and get $2 back? Almost sounds more like a coupon app for consumers than a shopper app for shoppers to me.
Why wouldn't Chix use the Rewardable app? It is not like any of these apps are for professional mystery shoppers.

Well, I wouldn't say they are necessarily intended for or directed towards professional shoppers, but I would say some are profitable and some are not. If you have a route of shops where you would like to add more stops to, I could see a shopper using an app like Gigwalk, Field Agent, or Easy Shift to do that and come out ahead. With an app like Rewardable, I can't see a shopper coming out ahead using that app unless they are double dipping. Meaning they have a shop with a real mystery shop company, and coincidentally it's at a place where the Rewardable app has a gig at too. Otherwise it would appear a person loses money with the Rewardable app no matter how they might try to work it in with other shops.
By the way, there are some real mystery shop companies in the mobile phone app space. iSecretshop is one of them. So I wouldn't be too quick to completely rule out all mobile phone apps for the professional shopper.
I am well aware of iSecretShop and understand it quite well. I have also completed shops using the app for an actual mystery shopping company. In other words, I had a real conversation with a scheduler and negotiated fees, bonuses, dates for completing the shops, dues dates for the reports, etc, all well in advance of the assignments. The iSecretShop platform then allowed me to either complete the reports onsite, complete the reports at home on my laptop or a combination of both, whichever was most convenient for me. My assignments also did not require me to submit Geotagged photos.
