Optical Diary Study

Has anyone heard of this type of shop? You go to an optical office and pick up an optical diary and hand your contact person a check. You then fedex the diary to the client. You do this monthly and the fee is $15.00 a month. The company has a D- Rating with the BBB. Please tell me if this is legit or not.

Not heard of this at all. I would be very suspicious if you are handing out checks.
Is the MSC a well-known, established one, and were you already registered with them? Had you already had a track record with them? Sounds suspicious, but could be real. How much money do you have to give? That is the part that sounds off to me.

My guess is she can find out a whole lot about the company if they indeed have a D- BBB rating by searching the boards for shopper experience with the company. While a D- rating does not apply to them simply as shopper experience, it does speak volumes about overall business practices. And every shopper forum I've seen has a search feature if she doesn't want to mention company name.
If you mean aTH Power with a SASSIE reporting site, they are legitimate. Be aware, however, that if you are shelling out your own money they take a long time to pay. My May shops were paid in July (see a thread here about date discrepancies because according to their website I was 'paid' long before the check was postmarked). If this really is 'anth power' I never heard of them and would be very suspicious. aTH Power has had scammers use variants of their name including "Apex Power"
What is the check for? I'm not sure what you mean by the "diary" and why you would have to pay for it. I inquired here a few weeks about about BBB assignments because a local man told me he used to mystery shop companies for them. No one had any information at that time. Thanks for this tip. I'll see what turns up here. I like medically-related assignments, anyway.
Hey Gang,

I have this shop. You are not handing out your own money. The MSC sends you a FEDEX envelope with the paperwork and a check made out to your contact person. You just pick the completed paperwork (which you dropped the previous month), FEDEX it back with the envelope provided by the MSC and drop off the new paperwork along with the check. Easiest $15 bucks and it's less than 10 minutes away from me.
