How's your last week before the holiday shaping up

Between my wife and I we have a total of 17 shops scheduled, all will be done by tomorrow night, and they total $650 plus gas receipts. How's your week shaping up so far? Oh and all of our shops will be paid before Christmas.

I have a whopping 2 shops today and that's all I have schedule right now. :/ Trying to get about $700 in shops scheduled for the week but it all hinges around some CORI shops that can't seem to be scheduled for some reason.

I'm waiting for a call back on two other shops that have a deadline for today. I'm willing to complete them, just not at their current rate. I asked the scheduler to contact me by 10am so we can discuss them, because they are in a shopping area that is out of the way.

I cancelled two shops this week, because I haven't been paid for the last batch I did for the company (nor did the scheduler reply to questions I had about when I "might" see payment) and I decided for the amount of $$$ I'd be getting for them, it's just not worth it with all the other stuff going on at this time of year.

I have one other one to do this week, and, fortunately can do it as/when I have the time. Takes a lot of pressure off the holiday crazies.

Kudos to all of you who do this either full time or nearly so; I don't know how you do it! It would stress me out way too much, and I admire you for being able to handle it so well! I think I've decided to up the bottom-line price I'm willing to do shops for, and only work with companies that pay within 30 days (or at least 45 and stick to it). I know that limits me quite a bit, but fortunately I don't do this as my main source of income!

I've figured out that with the time I've spent on mystery shopping vs. the amount of pay and the time it takes me to get it, I could have done more for a higher return on my main business. But I really enjoy MS'ing, and am probably going to do it for things like dining and family activities reimbursements--and groceries if I can get signed up with the right company!

Birdy,

Mystery shopping definitely isn't for everyone. I only do it part-time as well. Mainly entire accounts or shops which are at the deadline that I can get heavy bonuses out of. Being an opportunist has it's advantages... lol

I am signed up for close to 100 MSC's and I only shop for less than a dozen of them. You should still persevere. Sometimes, you have to take some lower paying shops to prove your reliability to some of the MSC's. Once you are able to do that, you can make some decent money doing mystery shopping.

I have 12 shops, plus finishing up a route this week. Then, I'm taking some time off for family time. I think hubby is feeling a little left out these days - I'm either shopping or writing reports.

This is my first year doing mystery shopping; is it true their are a lot of good paying shops after Christmas? I heard that rumor a while back.

Hi Dante! I'm definitely going to persevere, but not so much till after the first of the year! And not so much to make a lot of $$ at, but more to get reimbursed for things I and the family would do, or want to do, anyway.

Sure, I'd like to make a profit along the way (who wouldn't, right?)! There are a handful of companies I shop for and for whom I think I've proven to be reliable--and they will usually give me bonuses if I ask. I've tried to pick up small routes of lower-paying shops for some companies, but so far haven't been able to grab them quickly enough! I don't mind doing lower-paying shops IF they'll open the door to higher-paying ones, but I need to be paid in a timely fashion. I'm not waiting 60 days to get $12 anymore....

I'm signed up with one MSC that does high-end shops, but so far the ones near me have been snapped up before I can get them. I'll keep trying for those--at $45 or $50, or more, I'm sure they're well worth it. And at least one company that I've been working with for a few months has me on its preferred list for certain shops, and I've started to see some of its higher-paying shops on my board.

So, I'm not throwing in the towel, and won't turn my nose up at lower-paying shops--as long as they're a road into better-paying ones. But I'm sure that some I've been doing are just not worth the time or aggravation. And I HATE it when I have a question for a scheduler or editor, and she or he simply ignores my request. I don't need that kind of rudeness in my life--I have two teenagers already! LOL....

If you mean the week after Christmas I REALLY did well last year. I was at my condo in the Orlando area and couldn't turn down going to the McDonald's across the street for 30, the Panera down the road for another 30, a bunch of Lowe's for 30 each, etc. Some others too but I can't recall now.

Later this week I have a route with 14 shops for one bank, 4 shops for another, and a dinner shop.

Light right now, spending some time on boards right now looking for fun stuff smiling smiley Going to be near Philly a few days next week, so need to search out of my normal stomping grounds for a meal or two out while we're away smiling smiley

It's a two-day trip, one night on the road. MSC's know it's a route and the deadlines have been adjusted accordingly.

I did a number of things the first two weeks of Dec. but it's drying up and even MF has only a few jobs on the board in this area. The usually have dozens. CORI still has lots of the hardware shops but I don't do those. I have a wings shop and a local Mexican food shop this week and then that's it.

I do have phone call shops scheduled though. They pay $10 and I can do 4 a day so with no car expenses (although I do give them more time than I should) and the report is not onerous.
I only have one shop scheduled for the rest of the month. I think I'm burned out. Need a break.
As promised, I am taking no shops this week. Still have to start Christmas shopping. I actually have had a very productive day so far, but no hopping of any kind.

Seriously, I f'ing HATE unresponsive MSC's. While I'm waiting on somebody to get back to me about all these shops I wanna do that I can't schedule, someone managed to grab 2 of them. I looked and most of the ones I wanted were fixed so I grabbed 7 of them, then go look at the other shops I wanted from other MSC's and 2 of those got taken while I was waiting. I swear, scheduling shops is the absolute most frustrating thing part of shopping. And of course the one juicy shop that's still out there is in the same direction of the 3 CORI shops I still can't schedule.

Aint that the truth Bgriffin. In the last hour I picked up 4 more bank shops with very nice bonuses...and the scheduler extended the deadline on all my shops that I have coming up this week. I'll be doing two of this week's shops next week...it will just make a little more sense with gas and everything.

Yup, lots of hopping but no shopping for me today--and it's amazing how much I got done!

Sixteen to do before the end of the month. I found last Jan very profitable and am hoping for the same this Jan. Will see.... happy holidays to all.
Just starting out mystery shopping and only completed 4 shops since I started less than two weeks ago and thinking of doing more than 3-4 a day seems completely outrageous.. Though I'm sure if I find a way to get more organized doing that many shops would be much easier.
I have decided to limit my shopping to new homes as I have no desire at ALL to go to malls or retail outlets this close to Christmas.

Having said that, I have an appliance store shop tomorrow at lunch...: )

I've got 9 scheduled for the rest of this week. Currently working on the reports for the 5 shops I did today. Have applied for 2 or 3 other jobs to do this week. Just had one canceled because the location is permanently closed (there goes a $25 fee).
You all are amazing! I can't fathom more than three shops in one day, and you guys/gals are talking shops in the double digits or nearly so! Your energy, stamina, and threshold for aggravation must be boundless! My hat is off to you--seriously....

Nope, we are just organizedwinking smiley Today was only six shops, but I did drive over 350 miles. Tomorrow morning I will spend about two hours completing today's reports before three more shops and the 250 mile trip home. Meanwhile, tonight I'm drinking a glass of wine and having a bubble bathgrinning smiley
