Shopper Scam

I recently signed up with a shopping company called "Shoppers Smart, Inc.", they do not exist. I have emails a so called rep from this company, he wanted me to cash a check and send money to canada. I just finished talking to the police and they are going to investigate this. I did some investigating on my own and found out the company's address belongs to a residence, the letterhead on the "official" letter they sent me doesn't even match the company, it was from www.mysteryshopperamerica.com, which also doesn't exist. I am hoping these people do not try to steal my identity from all the info they got from my application. Beware! I am afraid to sign up with anymore companies after this.

In July I did a shop for ATM out of Atlanta. I have yet to be paid. My calls and e-mails go unanswered. This has never happened to me before. Any advice ?
Sadie - Sounds like you MIGHT also have been a victim, but can't say for sure yet.

Never heard of this company (what do the initials ATM stand for, if anything?), can't find any MS company that LOOKS like their initials might be ATM listed on any MS company list (volition, mommybiz, web search, etc.) and there are almost 11,000 businesses that start with "A" listed with the Georgia Secretary of State's office. You need to know the full actual name to see if they're listed there.

Hopefully, it's as simple as that they pay on the 31st of the NEXT month (August) for all shops done in July (NOT uncommon) and you can expect your check any day now.

Let us know what happens.
