It's 6 degrees outside! And 50 inside!!

Yeah, yeah, I know it's like -75 in North Dakota, but still! My stupid heat doesn't work right (because my bad little puppies got under the house and shredded the ductwork), so I'm trying to turn in 6 shops and it's hovering around 50 degrees in here, and my hands are freezing! You ever tried to type when your hands are a block of ice?

Le sigh....

I couple of years ago someone gave me a USB powered coffee mug warmer thingy for my birthday. I never even plugged it in until this week. Yeah, it's a bit nippily out there.

go to bestbuy and buy a 30 dollar electric space heater. Will
heat the whole room in no time.

I second techman's suggestion! I've tried typing with ice-cold fingers while the rest of my body is shivering, and it's no fun! My office used to be in the unfinished (walkout & exposed) basement of one of our former homes. I used to freeze down there in the winter, but once I got a "milkhouse" heater from the farm store for my office area, I was nice & toasty! (I'd send you mine if I still had it....)

If you use a space heater make sure you stay in the room with it the entire time it is on. I'm working on a project that needs a lot of quiet and have moved to my basement office. The basement is only partially finished. Normally it is just chilly, nothing that a sweatshirt and fur lined boots won't overcome. Right now it is miserably cold. Going out to get a space heater isn't on the agenda either since the roads are still an icy mess. With more snow coming in tomorrow it is expected to be Friday before the roads are in good shape.

Soooo, does anyone casually enter a bank and say they are thinking about opening a new checking account in weather like this? (I was just out for my invigorating stroll when I thought I might like to see what kind of checking accounts your bank offers.) Yikes, I have three to do today and I don't even want to step into my driveway, let alone park and walk the main avenue. Talk about looking obvious and FROZEN. At least no one will recognize me because there won't be much exposed skin to view. They might think I'm a robber though...ut oh.

I actually have a space heater but my office doesn't have a door (long story), so the heat escapes. I think I need to nail up a blanket or something....

3 Lowe's I did yesterday, you'd think I coulda bought a door, lol.
my dh (husband) bought me a ceramic space heater two yrs ago.

i have it going most of the time when I'm in the basement smiling smiley

it's a gem!
That's the usual temperature inside my house. Propane still costs us about $1000 to 12000 per month so we have to keep it low. Unfortunately one gets used to it over time.

thats a big range. 1000 to 12000 a month. Not even the corrupt traders
on the markets are making it swing that wildly.

I'm sure that was a typo.

My house is always freezing and we keep the heat all the way up. Our heat does not work very well. I don't think this house is insulated very well.
I had the same situation in my old basement office--no door--and what I did was buy an expansion shower rod long enough to go wall to wall and a wide insulated drapery panel, and made a drapery door. Honestly, it looked really nice (not that anyone saw it but me--lol!) and kept out the drafty, cold air in the rest of the basement from coming into my area.

If you have an actual doorway, it's even easier to rig this up because you can use a regular expansion curtain rod.

I couldn't get out of bed if it was 50! I keep it nice and toasty in my house. I am perpetually cold (I have very low blood pressure so my hands and feet get little blood flow), I keep the temperature at 74, PLUS I keep a space heater right next to my bed. Usually there is a fire in the living room. My boys run around in their shorts talking about how hot it is. They have gotten used to it.

We built our house about 7 years ago and spent extra on insulation, so my gas bill only runs around $250 even in this cold weather.
