What does Pending mean to you....

I sign with a Scheduling Co., and am unable to yet self-assign. I apply and check Monday morning (when it should be done),
and it says "Pending", so I think I did not get it. No email, then Tuesday, I get an overdue email that went to my spam box.
I call and asked if I got the job, was told yes, Scheduler would change the date for today (which they never do).
My question is does pending mean to do it or not to do it. This Scheduling Co., says it means you got the job, must be written in very fine print.....so, what does pending mean to you!!

Pending definition: awaiting decision or settlement.

synonyms: unresolved, undecided, unsettled, awaiting decision/action, undetermined, open, hanging fire, (up) in the air, on ice, ongoing, outstanding, not done, unfinished, incomplete

To me, this means I should be patient and wait until it has officially been assigned to me.

Irene, to most people "pending" would mean they hadn't made a decision. I would think I did not yet have the shop if it showed "pending".

In no way, shape or form can anyone believe the word
pending means it is assigned. Maybe linking to the
definition of pending on dictionary.com would help.

I suppose Pending could mean "Pending receipt of your report" or even "Pending review by an editor" depending on the context. Who is the MSC? Most MSC's use that term for jobs that have not been assigned.

For any MSC you're signed up with, you need to know where your job board is -- the jobs you are assigned, not the open jobs that you can apply for. Some call it different things -- Missions, Events, Assignments, Jobs -- so you need to figure out where to look after you apply for something to find out if you got it. Some companies take days, weeks, or even months to assign something, for some it's only minutes or hours. And for some platforms, the applied-for page looks nearly identical to the assigned jobs page. You have to pay attention to what tab you are on to know what you're looking at.

I really wish they'd all use the same format. It would make it so much easier.

Time to build a bigger bridge.
I'll go out on a limb...the company is: "I Secret Shop", a scheduling company, and was told in their case, pending means, they are pending report...you got the job. Show me the way to a nuthouse, and beware for those who have jobs with them.
Nina (Scheduler) is always available, and explained this to me, it sorta made sense, but not in my world or the world of Msing. I ran out and did it, now I know...pending means you got the job.

Oh. Now that you mention it, I think I remember seeing "Pending" on the 3 or so shops I've done on that platform too. It kinda confused me when I saw that after I got the confirmation emails that they had been assigned.

I got confirmation emails from them on the ones I did.

If you didn't ever get confirmation emails, why on Earth would you think you had gotten the jobs?! Sheesh, MSC! At least they moved the date for you. Must be a different MSC using that platform, than the one I had. Or, I just got the @#$% scheduler of the office. smiling smiley

My mail handler automatically puts mail from any new sender into the junk folder, which I check every day. If I reply to a message or tell it "add contact" then it puts it in my regular folder. I got a "reminder" email from them for my only shop with ISS, but I don't find an original "you got the shop" email from them.

My shop with them was for Mystery Shopper Services. Maybe it makes a difference which of their companies you are shopping for as to how they communicate.

Stormcloud, not all MSC's send out confirmation emails. Certainly most of them do, but some don't. It's up to us to follow up and find out if we got the job we applied for. That's why all my apps go on my shop spreadsheet immediately, and are only deleted when I determine I did not get the job.

Time to build a bigger bridge.
Oh, I know not *all* of them send confirmation emails ~ or so I hear... smiling smiley So far as I can remember and think of, all of the MSCs I regularly work for do... but I know some of you work for ones that don't from conversations here.

It's just that it sounded like the MSC the OP was discussing, was in the habit of sending them. Or maybe BGriffin's posts just made me think that. smiling smiley

The MSC I worked for via the 'I Secret Shop' platform was also Mystery Shopping Services. As I recall, they sent confirmation emails, including full job specifics and stuff. Like I said, I must have gotten the @#$% scheduler of the office and no longer work for them. So it's been a year or more since I've had dealings with them. They're the only MSC I've ever had this type of issue with. {knock on wood!} smiling smiley

Whenever I was assigned a shop on iSecretshop I received an email with the subject line "iSecretShop mission assigned".
When "Pending" goes to "Assigned to you'. I usually check my email and the job board to look for the answer. On Service Sleuth site , "Pending" usually disappears with no acknowledgement.
jwolpert....they used to do it that way, no more, now, if it's on your assignments, it's yours, and up to you to check.

I applied for a job for Beyond Hello on 4/8. When I didn't receive a message saying it had been assigned to me, I checked on different days and kept seeing "pending" as the status. I finally got a message on 4/14 saying it had been assigned to someone else. This is the only way I would interpret pending.
I'm betting this MSC has a problem with a lot of people not completing shops because the shoppers don't realize that pending means it's actually assigned. Pretty silly really, they should change their wording.
So I just signed up for three shops through iSecretShop. One of them was self assigned. The other two were scheduler assigned. Before they were assigned they were in Pending status. After they were assigned I received an email with the subject line "iSecretShop assignment." On the website it is no longer Pending and is under "your assignments." Unless the op is talking about another iSecretShop I am not sure what happened to the op.
