Does anyone do hotel shops?

I am staying in a $120 hotel for ACL. It advertises a lowest rate of $89, before taxes. I think that's about as low as you'll see for them. Charges are to be reversed 15 business days after shop acceptance.

I've done low-to moderate hotels for A Closer Look. They might have some in your area.

ACL is reversing hotel charges? Is this something recent?

I used to do Freeman Groups hotel shops, until they took a "dive under" and stiffed a lot of shoppers by not paying them...

Depends on the client.

There are reasons that a body stays in motion
At the moment only demons come to mind
Re ACL, I did one for a different client two weeks ago that will be reimbursed, but this one specifically mentioned the charges will be reversed.

I did one for a non-Coyle MSC recently. (Yes, there are other companies besides Coyle). It was a 4-star, and the bill was over $500, and mind you, there was not even a dinner or breakfast tab, just room service, parking, and taxes, plenty of taxes for hotels these days, and small incidentals. I had to wait 40-45 days for payment. They do not reverse credit cards. I think it was ok, because then I get to keep my Reward points and 2% credit card points as well. On the negative side, if I do not have the money to pay for it first (which I do), I will be charged interests by the credit company, and once they charge you for late payments, the interests apply for at least 2 months before I can get it cleared completely. That can really add up.
It wouldn't make sense for them to do that, since they are paid for accepted shops. If they were to pre-pay, and your report was rejected, they'd be out that money.

You can sign up for a rewards credit card for that hotel group, pay with the card, and then pay it off in full when you receive reimbursement. That way you rack up extra points, with no real OOP.

I only do hotel shops when I am traveling anyway, so that I get reimbursed twice.

Plan the work. Work the plan.
Expensive hotels = yes. Discount hotels = occasionally, but very little and hard to come by
