TBH, your best bet is to hit your ISP's spam button and forget about it. You could report it to www.ic3.gov, but there are so many of these scammers, they can't keep flying around the world investigating them all. The best option for law enforcement agencies at all levels is to keep educating the public - and that's what they are trying to do.

If you want to go above and beyond, you can always check the company website that the scammer is spoofing to see if they know about it and have already posted a warning about it. Most are already on top of it.

There are two types of people in this world: Those who can extrapolate from incomplete data.
Yeah right. As if Walmart would spend even $10 to check their service, let alone $170.

I hate scammers. I got a call from the phony Microsoft scammers today. Foreign accent so heavy I could hardly understand him, blocked phone number. I called him everything but a gentleman and hung up on him.

And the feds wouldn't walk around the block, let alone fly around the world, to catch a scammer. They do nothing about spam and telemarketers even when they know who the perpetrator is and they're actually in the USA and they know where they are.

I just mentally wish them all fleas in their underwear because for sure they'll never be arrested for anything.

Time to build a bigger bridge.
Scammers often hack legitimate email addresses to send their fake letters.

This is one of the many reasons it is so difficult to go after all of them. There would be so much time and expense to just find one of these people, and there are thousands doing it. They hack someone else's email and use it for a short time and dump it. They set up free email accounts for just one or two uses and dump it. They use proxy servers and are sit in a coffee shop with free WiFi for an added layer of anonymity. The Nigerian government had a warning on their website for a while about not doing business with people from their country that you don't know. I haven't checked it in a while so it may be gone now. Sad, sad, sad.
