The Outlet Mall Shop

Did anyone see this? These people are crazy!!!

The shopper would need to visit all of the assigned retail/food stores they are assigned in the outlet center. Apparently you get paid $5 for each store you visit.

- No purchase is required for retail tenants, a minimal purchase is required at food tenants and up to $2.00 of the purchase is reimbursed at each food location that is shopped.

- The shopper must spend 10 minutes in each store and interact with an associate during their visit (specific questions needed are on the evaluation for each location)

- The retail form used at each retail location is 17 questions with a narrative about the interaction with the associate required for each assigned store.

- The food form used at each food location is 19 questions with a narrative about the service provided required for each assigned location.

- In addition, there may (or may not) be an overall center evaluation to complete. It is a compilation of your visits, evaluating the different areas of the center while you are completing your center shops (parking lot, restrooms, common areas, management office, center staff maintenance, security, etc.) and providing detailed comments of what you observe. This evaluation, which pays $25, has 100 questions and narratives for each section.

Yes, they probably are. On the other hand, a small outlet mall near me probably has less than 50 stores and still would not be worth it. As a rule of thumb I figure 3 minutes of report writing for every minute on site on these 'quick and easy' shops. If there were no report beyond time in/time out/closed for each location it might be worthwhile for 50 stores.
I saw it and thought it was ridiculous.

That's 93 hours of work at under $8 an hour.

Plan the work. Work the plan.
I did one in the fall for a smaller outlet near me and it wasn't all that bad. You get two weekends to do it (you CANNOT do all of the shops in one visit per the requirement). My outlet has about 50 shops in it and only 3 food places. They ask you to submit your first 10 shops before entering any more so that the reviewer can make sure you are on track. I ended up doing half of the outlet the first weekend, entered my 10, got back my review the next day and did the other 20 that day. I then went the next weekend and finished the last stores and entered them. The shop entries are pretty short for each store...food ones are slightly longer but not by much. There is also an overall shop for the outlet center to note security, lighting, etc...that also pays extra but it's the longest of the shop reports and is the one that needs pictures. I made over $200 for the center shop and it was not that bad.

On a side note, though, I also made sure that I picked up several retail shops from other MSCs while AT the outlet center on my weekends there....so I double dipped on the weekends that I was there. I had about 10 of the stores that had individual secret shops when I was there (I did those separately while there...so those stores got shopped both weekends...once for the outlet center and once for their own MSC). That was an additional few hundred dollars as well.

All together, I made about $400 for the weekends, spent under $50.
I did these about ten years ago. Pay was the same.
I no longer do them. They'd need to pay double.
I can't go to the mall on weekends. I'm the worst shopper ever in a crowd!

Sunny, it's a minimum of $150 but the pay depends on how many stores you get. My outlet center is small so I got the whole thing. 53 stores at $5/store was $265 plus the food reimbursement (drinks at all 3) plus the center eval was $15 plus then I picked up the additional evals for specific stores from other MSCs. I only bought at the specific stores that I was getting reimbursed for, plus a baby shower gift that I needed to pick up anyway. Like I said, it was around $400 total, maybe a little more. I did feel silly going in some of the stores and talking to the sales people....I'm past maternity-wear clothes!

Phoebe, mine was thru them, yes.
I do the shop(s). It's tiring when I do it but a month later I love the pay! Last year I did some Christmas shopping while I was in and out of all of the stores (I do about 65 inluding a few food court locations). This year I only bought one thing that wasn't reimbursed. I have the system down and would probably do it again or maybe a different mall. I only spend the ten minutes in each store and then on to the next. I keep my notes in a small notebook and although the input is boring too you are in one place for all of the shops and one place for all of the input so there isn't any running around to do the shops.

Do you need to get names for all the sales associate or not?

Not my circus - Not my monkeys @(*.*)@

You need descriptions of the sales associates....not all of the retailers use nametags.
I can make $75. for three simple bank shops, easy reports, not far from home.

What would you do?
Take the banks of course. I'm out of rotation on my local banks as I've done them all. Of course I take high pay easy shops when I can...this week I'm making an $85 profit on 3 easy tan shops that take about 10 minutes, so of course I'm doing them.
