I need to avoid making an impression

Okay, thirty-second backstory: one of my friends has a daughter who's starting kindergarten and is really upset that she'll be bald on her first day, because she currently has leukemia. I told her if she had to go to school bald, I'd go to work bald, and I got my head shaved today.

I happen to think it actually looks pretty okay, but a woman in a skirt, earrings, and a shaved head is going to stand out. Should I avoid doing shops for 3-4 months until it grows back in, or should I be just fine if I throw on a cute hat? (I crochet, I have plenty of those in designs ranging from storebought fedoras to homemade newsboys.) Pick up a long scarf and do the Thelma and Louise thing for a few months? Or is it getting to be enough of "not a thing" that a young woman with a buzzed head would barely merit comment?

Well-draped with a nice scarf would look good. Pretty scarves are very fashionable right now.

That's a very selfless thing you did for your friend's child. It's probably a good idea to wear a hat or scarf, and alternate between them until your hair grows back a bit.
Nycrocks, I don't consider it selfless. I'm an adult and it'll grow back--I had nothing to lose here, except my natural insulation against my mom's need to keep the house ridiculously cold at all times. (And I'll be honest, I got it done at a salon because I couldn't bring myself to do it at home.) Nothing is more important than making sure she doesn't come to hate school in her first week because of insecurity during a hard time, and I'd say the same of anyone's child.

I do have this great cream and gold "fashion scarf" my niece got me for Christmas, and for a kindergartener she has surprisingly good taste. It may be time to whip that out and raid Goodwill for some "retro" brooches.
If you do make an impression, at least you won't be as memorable since the next time you shop the location you'll have hair.
I have a military high and tight. This translates to a 3 blade on the sides and 5 blade on top (shaver). Or you could say crew cut.
I have had this cut for a real long time. I do not get any strange glances, that comes when I start speaking southern in New England and visa versa.

Just lost trying to find a fire pit in a concrete jungle wishing it was a wooded glen...

if it wasn't for bad luck, I would have no luck at all
@ ninamason ~ Kudos to you. Did you donate your hair to "Locks of Love?" I believe you need at least 6" of virgin hair so I am not sure if you qualified or not.

The scarf thing is a good idea but since I am not a scarf person, I would think that right now would be the perfect time to play around with wigs. Wake up one morning and you are in a fiery mood; break out the curly auburn hair. Feel exotic or goth; go with long straight black hair. There is a great site that many with hairless heads use. It is called something like "cover your hair". Although it was originally aimed at religious groups that prefer women to cover their hair, it is now also widely used by chemo patients for interesting head covers.

BBird, Shop2Live, it wasn't long enough. I was rocking a JLaw-style cut and the back was actually a men's fade. I did the last time I shaved, though--that time it was 14". My style's changed juuuuuuuust a little!

Funnily enough, I had two people tell me today I look "trendy." Maybe it's an Arizona thing?
It's 10", and they've lifted the restrictions on color-treated hair, as long as it hasn't been stripped, it is acceptable. I donate every year. I take prenatal vitamins, which help keep my hair healthy, and seems to help it grow faster too. I have a salon shop next week and will be donating then.

Hit the GNC or Vitamin World shop once a month for the prenatals. I take them even when I'm not pregnant or nursing. I thinl they help my skin look and feel healthier.

You can also donate to Pantene Beautiful Lengths, which only requires 8". I used to donate before I started coloring my hair.
