Kmart Audit

I have my first Kmart price audit tomorrow...anyone have any tips they can send my way?

Really hoping it isn't as complicated as these forms appear to be. I know it will take a lot longer the first time.

I took it once during a slow month. Never again.

For a store that never seems to have employees around when I shop there...there sure were a lot on the day of my audit. Ihad to kill so much time waiting just to discreetly snap photos of everything wrong/non handicapped-compliant.

Did this audit switch MSCs from the big one that was sold last year?

Not sure of the MSC question.

There are no pictures required for this audit, just pricing and checking for the ADA compliance. At least that is my understanding. It stated no pictures required when I accepted it.
Mine did not involve pricing.

I was to check shelves ro make sure they were at least 50% full of any given item, and that weren't too many empty spaces.

The majority of my audit was on ADA stuff. I took over 30 photos and couldn't upload them all, had to email the rest. I had to take photos of the lighting, handicapped parking spaces, any aisles which were blocked by anything, making them less than 3 ft wide, entrance to the handicapped stall, inside the handicapped stall, handicapped dressing room, and any handicapped accessible counters which were blocked or had stuff on them.

@diana615 - Yes, it will take longer the first few, but the real time-saver will be how cooperative and efficient the manager is who accompanies you (or the person they designate). Try to develop a good rapport, let them know up front all the areas you need to hit, and defer to their sense of direction.

@Bbird0701 - That's a different audit than what the OP is talking about.

@JenW - The MSC that you're referencing hasn't had this client since before the old MSC was bought out.
I remember when I used to do shops for Kmart, they weren't audits, just regular mystery shops, you had to get the names of the people that you came in contact with and it would seem like they were running from me lol! They all wore lanyards and their name badges landed in *ahem* strange places it was awkward sometime trying to get a name.

Motivation increases when we assume large responsibilities with a short deadline.
Sounds to me like Kmart is using the audits to determine which stores to close first. Pretty much all of the stores in my area have closed except those in the smaller towns that don't have a WalMart.

I have one next week involving pricing and ADA compliance. Hopefully, it is not too complicated.

Just completed it. Took a little less than 2 hours. Input about another 15. Had a good employee (she had worked there 36 years) that was assigned to help me. Not to bad of a shop for the fee.

Lisa, that is the exact one that I just did. Overall, not terrible. Good luck on yours.
I just did the pricing/ADA one last Thursday. The manager questioned why I was there when they'd just been audited on 7/15. He had the copies to show me, so I was also surprised. I called the scheduler, but all I got was her voicemail. So I called Liz, the contact from K Mart, and she explained that each store gets three audits a year and that they're scheduling them now so they can get them all done before the heavy holiday shopping season. That took an extra 20 minutes to sort out, so it went a little longer than I expected.

I was lucky the manager assigned one of his best people to go with me. She was such a huge help. I made sure I let the manager know how good she was, and also noted it in the report. I was also lucky there were only two pricing errors on clearance items, so the report went quickly.

Tanmanlovespool is right about how many of them have closed. The one closest to me closed quite a while ago and is now in the process of being turned into a new Walmart that is right across the street from an old WM that's too small and old.
I got one too, tomorrow! I was taken aback by the instructions and actually thought about cancelling it, but thought better of it. I rescheduled. I'll be there at 8 AM with bells on! Then a bank shop, a FF shop and from 1 to 4 I get to model (clothed!!) for an art class! Busy day, and lots of driving!

Hope I get an experienced employee!
The Kmart pricing audits started as soon as they were bought by Sears in order to comply with the Sears corporate standards. The ADA compliance audits are done because each state has different requirements, that's why the pricing audits have additional segments in some states to comply with state laws. A different MS does the Sears mystery shop, and another does the Kmart mystery shop.
Hymnsinger, how was it?

I find the key to making the Kmart audits go fast is to do them by the way the store is laid out. That way, you make one loop of the perimeter of the store, then you walk the interior section one time. That will save time and steps.

Lots of patience, and try to laugh and smile when you can manage it.
