McNugget receipt almost got away

Did a nicely bonused McNugget shop today and one of the receipts I thought I had secured started flying all around the car as I got on the freeway. You would've thought I was trying to grab a $100 bill. Braking, yelling "NO" about 15 times while closing the windows and chasing that stinking receipt all around the car. At least I worked off a couple of French fries.

Does your vehicle have manual windows and / or is a convertible? What's so difficult to close the windows right away? Lol

Shopping the Greater Denver Area, Colorado Springs and in-between in Colorado. 33 year old male and willing to travel!
A $1 coupon accordion file from the Bargain Bins at Target will solve that problem for good.

Glad you didn't wreck!

I completely understand that initial moment of panic when nothing is in perspective and your tunnel vision is focused on that one tiny slip of paper. LOL

I'm glad you're safe.

This reminds me of how important a receipt truly is and the knee-jerk reaction when something bad is about to happen to it...

I went to a steak house shop and the cashier takes the small itemized receipt that the server laid on the table, takes my money and then crumples my receipt and tosses it in the trash!! Faster that you can say OMYGOD! I told her I needed it back as calmly as I could (bill was $21.95) and she said, "Oh. You need your receipt? Sorry."

Oh brother, sorry isn't enough! lol...smiling smiley
I love bar shops where they place my receipt on the bar counter and then my condensation-dripping wet glass right on top of it. Even better when it's beer and still foaming with head down the glass. :eyeroll:

9 times out of 10, if you don't grab your receipt off the Golden Arches Tray, they invariably ALWAYS stick the greasy French Fries RIGHT on top of it! smiling smiley
Just recently, I gave my receipt to the crew member in red shirt when he handed me my order in a paper bag. Then I checked my order if everything was correct. When I sat down, I could not find my receipt.

I asked the cashier if it was possible to get a copy of my receipt. She said she could not do anything about it. I suspected I last held it when I picked up my order. So I went to the person who handed me the order and told him my order #. He looked at the trash and sure enough it was at the very top. I was too concentrated on the burnt extra scoop of fries that I completely forgot that I was supposed to take very good care of the receipt.
Ahh the pesky receipt. I just wish people would learn what the word itemized means.

Shopping Western NY, Northeast and Central PA, and parts of Ohio and West Virginia. Have car will travel anywhere if the monies right.
I got a tip when I first started on this forum a long time ago to take a photo of my receipt as soon as I got to my car. There's been a couple of times I've been really glad I do that.
Oh yeah. I remember doing my very first msretail. I was so nervous. But because it was a purchase and return, I photocopied my receipt. In my nervousness, I misplaced or lost my receipt. When I returned the item, the cashier asked if I always copied my receipt. I said, yes, I did. I had to make sure I never lose my receipt. It went through.

The difficult part was that it didn't start flying until about 65mph, while merging from the on ramp and the moonroof was open and I'm watching traffic, swinging at the receipt that was threatening to jump out each open window. It nearly flew out each freaking window. It really must have been comedic!

I had a similar experience. I panicked!

Now, I put them in my glove box. End of subject. tongue sticking out smiley
The panic that sets in when the receipt goes missing, oh my. I am betting that every shopper has experienced that. Or the time your mind goes blank and you forget to ask for one and have to do it later. This forum is great because you realize you are not alone in this crazy business. It's a perfect opportunity to vent because who else can we talk to, lol.
I once was completely over-zealous as a new shopper and upset at the condition (wrinkled) of a receipt .....

....... so I ironed it.

The thermal paper turned black. Unreadable. *forehead smack*
I iron mine too, but.. with a cool iron. Mostly on traveling shops where the only scanner I have is the CamScanner app on my phone. Otherwise my scanner does a good job of pressing the receipt flat enough for a good scan.

OMG ColoKate, you made me snort! Too funny.
JP, that's a great idea and I'm going to start doing that immediately!

You two are funny! I don't iron my clothes (I use a steamer if necessary) and am not about to iron receipts! I agree the scanner does the job well enough and I'm never on the road, so it would never occur to me to use an iron. LOL I gotta hand it to you for your resourcefulness.
I try to remember to put my receipts in my wallet as soon as possible, as soon as I get them if it's a restaurant shop. I used to try to take photos right away as soon as I left the premises, but when I was outside (with no car) I had to chase a few receipts down the street in traffic before because the wind blew them away before I could get the photo! My wallet is safer! LOL
Since I only go to places with decent parking I drive and leave my stuff in the car buried under a blanket. I bought a $4 clipboard at Wal-Mart that opens up so I can store everything inside it so it won't get lost.

Contractor's clipboard. I have them too, and they are awesome! I use them for work and for MSing.

For routes, I used a zippered binder for shop manuals, guidelines, notes and forms.
