how would you put mystery shopping on your resume?

I am working on a resume in an attempt to get a FT job and want to include mystery shopping on the "other skills" section.

How would you write it up?

I have tis, but am working on polishing it, it is pretty MEH at the moment....

Not sure of the job you're going for, but in overall skills, try to hit all of your good ones that you've picked up because of MSing. Highly organized, objective, detailed, professional reporting, resourceful, efficient, hard-working (those jobs don't assign themselves!)

In specific skills, cite your knowledge of of Excel, creating invoices, expense reports, etc.

Oh, and find a professional way to write "go-getter" because MSers are definitely that.

Also emphasize your ability to self-manage and keep track of multiple projects for different companies. People don't think this doesn't amount to anything, but planning and managing your schedule as a mystery shopper to keep your business profitable is a job in itself.

Good advice from everyone. It takes only a few seconds to scan a resume. I never, ever mention "mystery shopping or independent contractor" in a resume. You don't have to lie in a resume but avoid including anything or describing them that would create a bias in the minds of the scanner. That was the advice I got when I took professional resume writing. Your main aim at this point is to get an interview.

Anything that may be discriminatory such as specific dates or company names, etc. are not required to be spelled out in a resume. You deal with them in an interview if they ask. And unless your resume is about specialized field, maximum page for the resume is 2. Believe me, you can cover it in one page as I have done for some people.

Get that interview and good luck!
Sometimes I would describe it as customer service consultant, product evaluator, service auditor or quality control adviser.
Remember that mothers can be domestic engineer. winking smiley

The mention of mystery shopping or independent contractor sometimes gives a wrong connotation. Positive or negative, it does not spell interview.
Mothers are also chefs, chauffeurs, housekeepers, maids, dry cleaners, nurses, therapists, cheerleaders, teachers, bakers, event organizers, secretaries, and overall magicians.

Dads are all of the above plus handymen, mentors, and tech support.

Moms can't be handy, mentors, or tech support?

That falls under the "magician" umbrella.

Moms can be whatever they want to be.
