Five Guys "10% discount Mall/Airport worker"

I just did a Five Guys shop at a tourist "Factory Outlet" mall where everything is more expensive than at a normal store including the Five Guys. I saw that it was a call in shop after I assigned it to myself. Now half the tourists shopping there don't speak English and are from overseas and stuffing suitcases with overpriced goods.

When I called in my order they said it'll be up in 6 minutes. Good thing I already spent 15 minutes driving in circles to get a parking spot. Then I get the same cashier I had when I did the same location three weeks ago. No local would go there at any time muchless Sat. night dinner time. He saw me for the second time and recognised my face punched the "Airport/Employee 10%" discount button on the register.

He said, "You work here." as if he was talking to himself and punched the button for the discount.

I didn't fight him to remove the discount. I just handed him my payment. Either way, I'm likely to be outed at that location now as it's in the report and on the reciept that I got the discount.

Well, I would have refused the discount.smiling smiley (in case we aren't supposed to get any discounts) But I just checked the guidelines to see if it mentions coupons or discounts and I don't see a rule against it. I know some of the shops says to not use coupons or discounts.

You may work there 10 more times or it could end soon at that location. Not sure if an employee would say anything about recognizing you.
This is not a Five Guys employee discount. It's for anyone who is unfortunate enough to work at any store at the outlet mall. In fact, I'd be willing to bet at any mall or airport location, if you said I work in the mall, they would just hit the discount button without giving it a second thought. Sorta like the sr. citizen discount. They are not going to demand your employee id card. The employee just made the assumption I worked there.

No tourist would have phoned in an order for pickup. This is a mall with a valet parking line that is 15 cars deep dropping off and people creeping on every isle for any parking spot and parking on the grass past the lot by the street a block away.

We get 10% military discount. My reports have never been rejected, and I've never been outed.

Plan the work. Work the plan.
I would think refusing the discount would cause a lot of suspicion. What normal person turns down a discount someone gives them without being asked for it?

Time to build a bigger bridge.
I say that the worker discount would be good as it is an "assumed" excuse in case someone recognizes you again.

Shopping across Indiana but mostly around Indianapolis.
I wouldn't worry about it. Sometimes I think, we as shoppers, overthink the situation. That employee might be giving the discount to anyone that looks the least bit familiar.

Next time I shop that location, I think I'll ask for the 10% mall worker discount.

Do I look like a tourist to you?

This could prevent me from being outed now that I think about it.
