When it sounds too good to be true........

I'm a very new shopper ~ with a 30 yr career in real estate behind me, which would give one the impression I wasn't born yesterday, right?

I grabbed a $75 shop fee to, as the introductory post explained, simply apply for a store credit card. My rose colored glasses were on?, greed got to me?, my radar was broken? the voice in my head was out to lunch?

I have to provide the MSC with a copy of my FICO score, there is a 9 page report with tiny print and eleventy million questions, I have to call the subject 3 times in the next month asking questions about rates, card agreement, etc. and report on each interaction. I have to buy something at the store on my first visit, report on the cashiers performance, and hopefully be immediately approved for the credit card. If not, I wait for the card to arrive in the mail, go back and buy something else ( I may return tho).. I have to download ALL promotional paperwork I receive (both sides) before, during and after I get the card. Must download my first statement and envelope showing post mark. I must follow up on my follow ups.

I'm dopey....but will do it, right? Am I making too much of this? Learning Learning

I did this, but for $100. It was pretty much a piece of cake; just do things on the right dates. Love to all, the Night Owl.
I did it last year for $100 also. It was an easy shop with attention needed to reporting dates and times of info received. It's not at all a difficult shop. It's a drawn out shop that takes a month or so to complete due to the wait for a bill etc.

Just sounds like a lot of small details but really not that time consuming. It may look like a lot at first but once you do it I think you will be pleasantly surprised at how little actual time it really takes.
I just did this shop a few months ago for $75 and it was definitely a piece of cake. 5 minute interaction with the cashier and the rest is done from home.
I saw the e-mail for this shop, and it definitely sounds worth it to me! For $75? Yes, please!

Happily shopping the Pacific Northwest. Shopping since 2013 smiling smiley
First qlitch...creditkarma says their info does match up with mine so I have to mail verifiation of identity and they will mail my report back. Same for other companies. I got my 3 free reports from the big 3 credit companies but they do not include your FICO score......and that is what the MSC company wants today, just the FICO.

Have emailed the helpdesk but no response as of yet. Now I don't want to lose this shop!

Thanks so much everyone!!

First time doing a particular shop, some glitches, sounds very familiar. Hang in there and get all those details straightened out and the next one will be a piece of cake. However do ask for $100 next time (smile).
If you have American Express, they send your FICO score on your statement every month. Not sure if the shop accepts that, but it's another source you could try.

Time to build a bigger bridge.
I do have amex but it is a box store amex.......no FICO score. I haven't heard back, would you email again or wait? Thanks!

Are you sure?
I have a 25 years gold Amex and a Delta Amex and do not see it anywhere on the statement.
The more money they give you the more steps and detail you must comply with. If it were a $5 shop it would be a lot less to process.

When is sounds to good to be true the price of the shop is what you should be hearing. The fee matches the work that must be done in most cases and are legitimate you just have to send yourself an e-mail (date-name of shop- do (next step) today.) then is is as easy as remembering to read you e-mail.

Like those who did it report..it is a piece of cake...but you may not like cake. They liked cake.

Some companies like the Swedish "put it together yourself" furniture company offer a lot of money but they have a million ambiguous questions you must buy their Swedish meat balls and pay out of your pocket. They give you a two hour tour of the store and another hour doing the report. I do not see those shops anymore. They are for newbies that do not know any better and see only the big fee that is offered. Has anyone actually been paid for this shop?
Hmm.. Maybe it's a local thing? I've seen it on mine and I've seen it on the Amex statements of clients of mine. But i can't find by googling where they say they provide it. So maybe it's something they're testing in Arizona?

This is fairly recent information about who does and doesn't provide the FiCO score to cardholders: [www.creditcards.com]

However: [creditcardforum.com]

Time to build a bigger bridge.
Heard back from the MSC....they said go ahead and do the shop today and submit FICO later. In the meantime, the mortgage rep in my real estate office, pulled my credit.

Did the shop, downloads & questions required now.....

Will do the rest of the form after the credit card arrives.....

So, I take back all of my reservations!! This was easy peasy!!!

Thank you everyone!!

I'm doing the same shop. My FICO score is on my Discover Card statement and the scheduler said that is acceptable so that was easy. Only problem is, I bought a bunch of stuff at the store so there goes my profit winking smiley

Probably they are testing certain areas. The websites says that they are exploring.
