Easy one. Just make sure that you do all the dept. and ask the questions they provide. And make sure you ask about the flowers There often is no one in that dept.
The shop I got says make a deli purchase...our deli has fresh soups also teas...can these items count as deli purchases the only example give says meat and cheeses?

You need to purchase from a specific category at deli so you can check a specific behavior. Read the guidelines, everything is there.
I do the shops when Publix is the client, and for another client who shops them as a competitor. Both are straight-forward. Shopping Publix as the client, there will always be a special request. It's a requirement, watch for it. The competitor reports generally pay a few dollars less. They're no better or worse, just different. Your deli purchase has to be meat or cheese that gets sliced to your specification. It cannot be anything pre-packaged.
Only specific items it says I need to purchase is pineapple or melon from produce dept very specific there...

Deli shop part says they must offer me sample but I dont have to buy meat of cheese....

very different from old day Kroger shops.....
Sounds like your special question is for the produce department, not the deli. It's been a month since I last shopped them as a client. Maybe their guidelines have changed, but a deli purchase has (had?) always been a requirement.
Little over a week ago you *MUST* make a purchase from the deli, even if the time to wait to be helped is passed. You then switch from sliced to order meat or cheese to a pre-packed item and continue to the next department. I have shopped when they were too busy to get to me in time and grabbed a pound of red potato salad from the case and rolled right on into the meat section. You only wait the number of minutes in the guidelines in each section shopping and then the number of minutes trying to mow down (I mean locate) a green apron person looking for help.

What Can Make My Shop Invalid?
• Not making a Deli purchase, if assisted at the Deli.
• Not purchasing at least 1 item, if not assisted in the Deli.

This is the shop I buy the needed ingredients to make my version of the Italian beef sandwich.

You should not post the current scenario of the month here as there is a shopper that works there and is inelegable to get the assignments.

Publix shops are great. I try to be sure I spend the $10.00 reimbursement fee. They tell you what you can buy - most of the time deli meat or cheese and then another department which changes from time to time.

I shop in Alabama and cannot find enough shops to keep me busy. I've only got 6 for November. Any suggestions.
I did a Publix shop yesterday it is same as the posting from BamaBeana. I did not mind doing it. You have to remember all the item in list. I will do it again. I took the tips page with me went to the ladies room and read before I spoke to Publix Associates and Managers.

I used to love the Publix shops when I lived in Florida. Too bad there aren't any here in Oregon. Now, if a Roth's Fresh Market ever pops up, I'll do back flips to get that.

Sign up with as many companies as possible, expand the area that you shop and try to string shops to make a mini-route in your area, organize a day trip to a large city in your area with a large mall and do many shops there that day.

Where do you see in the guidelines where it says that you MUST make a deli purchase even if you are not assisted within the time frame? The guidelines I can see say:

"Wait up to 4 minutes to be assisted at the Deli counter.
If assisted within 4 minutes, ask one of these questions AND have a meat or cheese item sliced and
purchase it. Otherwise, leave the counter."

Your reference to purchasing at least 1 item, if not assisted in the Deli refers to making at least 1 purchase anywhere in the store so you can get a receipt.

Since these grocery stores are not in my area, I only do them occasionally when I am in one of the southern states. But there have been times when I was not assisted in Deli, made a purchase elsewhere, explained what happened in the comment section and I have never had a shop rejected.
Just a heads up...I was in a Publix last week and there was a huge sign at the entrance saying they are going to be closed on Thanksgiving Day.

I would hope that they would be closed. Employees need a holiday every now and then.
You'd be surprised how many grocery stores around here are going to be open on Thanksgiving.

Around here most, if not all are closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter with early closings for Christmas Eve and possibly both New Year's Eve and Fourth of July. Personally, I like them being closed. Everyone needs a break now and then.

There's a creepy butcher at my local Publix store and I've been avoiding going back for awhile. I'm doing a competitor shop tomorrow and hope he's not working. I only need to locate sales circular items, ask for assistance a few times, and check out Customer Service and the restroom.

Does anyone know if the Aprons Cooking Schools are shopped? I'd love to try that.
Don't have Publix in California but everything is opened here on all holidays and it is disgusting. The new thing is to open the stores at 8PM on Thanksgiving to start black Friday early. What happened to staying at home on the holidays?
I love doing Publix shops. I live in a metro area with a lot of them so I can do two during the lunch period and three during a dinner period. I have five coming up next week. Ironically, there is one at the entrance of my neighborhood and I've only done a shop there once.

When I do multiple stops, I put a cooler with ice packs in the car to keep all the cold food cold while I finish the route.

I've done them so much I don't even need notes when I walk in... just have to remember the special department of the week. My best time was 20 minutes when it was slow and associates were readily available in each department. Longest was 55 minutes on my very first one. Average is 35 minutes. When I go in to shop for real, my feet automatically start walking the route to do the perimeter departments.

For a while the deli purchase was vague because of that time limit, but they did recently change the wording that if you're not helped in the five minutes, you do NOT need to still make a purchase there. But you do have to buy something. As with most shops, the receipt is the proof that you were there. In most cases, the special department requires a purchase too... unless the time limit expires.
I just accepted a Publix job and this is what it says about your purchase, "***NEW!! When you scan your receipt, please FOLD YOUR RECEIPT in a way that we can clearly see the TOP AND BOTTOM PORTIONS of the receipt, so we can see the date and receipt number for your purchase!! We DO NOT need to see the list of items you purchased, when you scan your receipt!!***"

So, it looks like you can purchase whatever you want! I may get a bottle of wine. smiling smiley

Oh, but wait! It also says I must purchase deli meat or cheese if I'm greeted in under 4 minutes. Hmmm...

This must be new, as they wanted to see that you purchased the scenario of the month before. The deli instructions from a few moths ago did state that if you timed out at the deli, you had to purchase another item from the deli area, as I still have that months shop instructions in the shop folder. Publix is at least making the effort to make changes to the scenario and mixing up the stupid questions you ask to some degree.

I loved the one where you grab a packaged item from the bakery and ask them to break a package of buns, rolls, or bread in half. I do that as I don't need 8 hamburger buns or 8 hot-dog buns and do this as normal practice now. I ask for exactly how many I want and they will break the packages for me and reduce the price and I stopped throwing away the extra ones or freezing them (YUK!).

I never knew this option existed till that months special department request happened. smiling smiley
Same with packaged produce and meat. They will break any package for you. It will be their pleasure winking smiley

Publix is closed here on Thanksgiving. Harris Teeter is open until 2:00 on Thurs., though Wed., Thurs., and Fri., are blackout dates for shops. They staff to the extent possible with employees who volunteer to work holidays. It's good pay, I assume. Wed. and Thurs. will be insane. Friday will be bargain hunter's day. Fresh turkeys will be marked down, depending on the quantity remaining, to somewhere around .50/lb. Marked down fresh seafood and choice cuts of beef and pork will also go really fast.
Publix shops are my fave . . . I have 3 within 2 miles of me =)
