Best Buy Audits

I'm doing my first one tomorrow and I'm a little wary after finally getting to read the instructions. If anyone is doing one today or has done them in the past, I'd love to to get some details on how it went for you.

Wow! The MSC called me around noon today saying the job would have to be rescheduled for Friday instead of tomorrow. Are you kidding me? Looks like I'm getting out of it techman, since I can't do it on Friday. Not happy with them though. I've spent over $30 on a background check and drug screen.
After the 2nd or 3rd date change with still no instructions or report made available, I canceled mine. I had not paid for any background checks and was not going to without seeing the full guidelines. I had a feeling the dates might get pushed back some more and didn't want to deal with it finally being ready so close to Thanksgiving.

Lisa, you were smarter than I was to not pay for the background checks. I'm still learning, but I consider the unreimbursed cost a small price to pay :-)

It looks like some of them have finally been done? Any feedback from someone who's done one or more?
I have done 3 of these so far and I really like them, but I always prefer revealed audits over unrevealed shops. If it weren't for the 60 day rotation I would have done 2 more this week. It took me 5 1/2 hours for the first one, 4 1/2 hours the second (much smaller store) and about 5 hours for the 3rd. Once you get the hang of it they're really not bad. Mostly you just scan a bunch of stuff with the gun to make sure the price is correct. I use my iPad in the store to fill everything out using the app and sync it when I get home. No report to do, no figuring out which picture goes with which question.
I passed on these just because the low pay vs hours needed, even at the low end of the possible hours, not enough money to get me to leave my driveway. Now, for a higher pay, I might consider the audit, but I'm not going to pay for any background/drug tests. If they require that, they need to pay for that, not me. I did see one email that said they waived that requirement but not sure if that is still valid.
As long as you complete 2 audits by Feb. they reimburse you for the background check and drug test.
Curious since the MSC is not mentioned, how much does a 5 hour audit pay?

ETA: I found it. $95

Hell no. I like to keep it at $1/min.
10 minute shop/audit = $10

30 minutes = $30

That's a good rate for mindless work. If I need to use any sort of skills, there had better be a nice reimbursement with it.
I pay for my supplies, my car, my computer, my time to research and review the job, my time to travel, etc. So onsite is $1 a minute.

If I had to spend 5 hours in Best Buy, somebody would need to talk me off of a ledge.

I agree with airyn1 (and I posted on the other thread)- I have done 8 of these now, and while there are some drawbacks, overall I feel they are worth my time and effort. The first one was overwhelming, but I got the hang of it after that. They are easy and go quickly (for me anyway). I could probably do them in my sleep by now - LOL

And geez, sorry to hear about all the ones who got rescheduled / date changed above. Lameness! I would be frustrated with that.

Is there someone on-site to help you? How much would you say you averaged per hour?

They provide an auditor hotline number that you can call if you need to, but I haven't had to yet. If you can't find a product after you've looked for it, you can ask an employee. The rest of the stuff is explained pretty well in the instructions (which you take with you). Mine have mostly taken 4-5 hours on average, and the fees are listed on each audit. I have mostly done $90-95 ones, so it's an average of over $20/hour for me. Of course it depends on how you work and stuff.

Haha wow a drug test for a Best Buy Audit? Man I love living in Canada. If we had that type of audit here (there are other ones for Best Buy not the scenario mentioned above), I probably would do it from the sounds of the last post. I'm all about making $20/hr maybe more because I am pretty efficient at audits.

I just saw a posting for a store with a $7o bonus attached. They must be getting REALLY desperate.

And it needs to be done by tomorrow. My schedule through next week has been set since last month. It's easy to fit in a mystery shop here and there, but a 5-8 hour audit is little tough.

Anyone have any feedback on these? The bonus is almost enough to think about doing one. I'm assuming that since you are doing the audit in the store on a tablet that there is no report at the end so your time spent is whatever time it takes in the store itself?
You do the report on the Rover app, and you are required to submit it before you leave the location.

I have done my BestBuy Audit. Directions are involved as in 35 items you can use and 12 you cannot and this was 1 (One) (Uno) question. I have not yet done the drug/health stuff. If you do not have experience in scanning price/info stickers this is not the place to get it. 14 hours not including drivetime. I am so driven that I will complete the job------once.

A second job from the same MSC, an ATT audit. I lost the time and effort in this job because I did not answer a question that was not asked. <The MSC> gets a -F for a score.

Mod note: Oops! Remember to not name the MSC, since clients are being discussed. Thanks! smiling smiley
Well, crap! I'm doing an AT&T audit tomorrow and have already submitted the background check/drug test for the Best Buy audits. I've done audits in the past and really never had a problem with them. I signed up for the Best Buy audits because they require a tablet - this way, I can deduct the majority of the cost for something I wanted anyway. Since I have a Best Buy credit card, I can get 18 mos. SAC, too. "Hope for the best, but prepare for the worst."
Geez, I considered this for half a second and I'm glad I didn't bite. You don't even know the pay for your actual store until after you pay for the drug and background tests. No way am I forking out $35 in costs to maybe get a 9 hour job that pays $60. Ridiculous!

If a drug test and background check are required for it, then they should pay for it up front. Lets see, two shops required for reimbursement. Only four stores within 20 miles. Ah, I don't think so.
I did a couple of these during the first round. Once you're used to them, they're really not bad. A smaller location you can be done in three hours once you've gotten the hang of it.

Looking forward to these rolling out nationwide.

I swear here, they dropped the background and drug test, at the end of the year. They were so desperate to get them done. I see they are back on now. I wonder if I was mistaken.
They didn't drop it, they just agreed to let people do one before they had completed the tests.
Because of my current occupation I have to have proof of federal and state background checks and a current drug test. These are completed yearly. I wonder if I could provide proof of these to the msc or would I need to go through the whole routine if I wanted to accept any of these jobs. Any thoughts would be welcomed.

You can always ask them after you accept the shop and if they deny you just say that you will not pay for the screening since you already have proof of it.
