I brought an employee to tears today...

It was a reveal for a movie theater. The employee upsold the drink and was awarded $50. Then she was awarded another $50 for asking if I wanted to purchase cookie dough bites. When I told her she was getting $100 with her next paycheck she literally started shaking and tears formed in her eyes. She kept thanking me over and over.

What a great ending to a cruddy week for me!

I read the title and assumed you managed to give the employee a nervous breakdown, or a terrible reveal where they were out of receipt paper and they did everything wrong and they were a crew leader about to be promoted to manager and blew the shop so badly that they lost hope.

That's the way to do it!
KUDOS to you and the employee!

I'm not likely to do reveals, for a few reasons. Nice outcome, Phoebe.
Once I did a gas station reveal and the guy behind the counter could not have looked any scarier. Big guy who looked liked he would be very comfortable in a street gang. He greeted everyone who walked in was the happiest gas station attendant I had ever seen. When I awarded him the golden ticket he was so surprised and grateful. Such a fun shop - cannot always tell a book by the cover.
Those are nice rewards. See people, it pays to do your job (and often makes it easier for us)
I want to give rewards!! I am always just scaring them with the scary piece of paper, I feel like I am serving them with court papers everytime and everyone always looks terrified once I hand it to them. Wish I could reward....sign me up please!
Awwww. Thanks for sharing that story.
Don't tell anyone I said this, but once she started crying, I probably would have started crying too. (shhh.. our little secret)

There are two types of people in this world: Those who can extrapolate from incomplete data.
I did it once as part of a restaurant shop. I was so excited to make her day that I was freakin' shaking while I gave it to her.
I would do these all day if I could find them.

Seriously, nobody cares that you're offended.
That happened in a retail store once. The girl did everything beautifully and I was supposed to ask for the manager afterward. Three employees looked at me terrified until I said to the manager that I was the shopper and the girl did everything right. I love it when I can make someone happy like that.
