Have you ever seen a celebrity while mystery shopping?

I just got back from doing a bar evaluation at a Marriott here in New York- not exactly the ritziest one here, but a nice one. While at the bar, Craig Robinson, of Hot Tub Time Machine fame, showed up, and must have been staying at the hotel. Added a bit of excitement into what was otherwise one of the duller bar evaluations I've ever done.

I did a restaurant shop once at the music center in los angeles and literally ran into Placido Domingo at the bar. He was standing in the walkway to the restroom (had to do a restroom check) so we had to go by him and he gave my sister in law a hug when I said she admired him. Many of the musicians and the star soprano were there at the bar also. I sat with the Director of the LA Opera at a communal table for the bar visit part and we chatted.
At an airport show, Sir Elton John was seated at the next table.

Poor customer service? Don't get mad; get video.
I saw PRINCE the singer at a Kmart on a shop. Nicest guy watched him shake hands with several young fans. Dressed head to toe in bright yellow.
Yes, I sat next to Francis Ford Coppola during dinner once at a private club on a shop.
I saw Larry Burkhead with his little daughter - Anna Nicoles- at Target. The little girl was almost angelic looking. Her face was so beautiful I could not stop staring.
I once looked in a mirror during a shop.

Happily shopping Rhode Island and nearby Massachusetts and Connecticut
I saw Vince Vaughn this past September during a bar visit of a hotel I was shopping in LA.
I saw Dolph Lundgren at a hotel in Mexico.

And I saw Al Sharpton at breakfast once in NYC.

ETA: Beyoncé and Jay Z at a hotel in the Bahamas! I forgot about them. She is so pretty she made me catch my breath.

I've seen LeBron James at the local Best Buy. He lives around the corner from the store, so not too surprising.
Unfortunately, I wouldn't know most celebrities by sight since I don't watch TV, only go to the movies during a shop, and don't follow them. I doubt I would have anyway since I live in the middle of nowhere!
I saw Nick Lachey at a fine steakhouse. Not too surprising, as he's from Cincinnati and that's where the restaurant was located. He's even cuter in person smiling smiley
I must live under a rock because most of the people mentioned in this thread I have no idea who they are or would recognize them if I saw them. Hmmmm....I wonder how many famous people I've seen that I didn't know I saw?

Kim
Kimmie, I always read People magazine at my hair stylist or nail "stylist", mainly to familiarize myself with the latest and greatest celebrity names. Unfortunately, the issues are usually so outdated, I may be wasting my time. smiling smiley

If you see him again tell him to pay the millions he owes in back taxes. Perhaps he could bring it with him on his next (82nd) visit to the White House.
And it's not like you're bitter and keeping track. Bwahahahaha!

I guess I'm going to have to start doing this.

Kim
Saw country singer Vince Gill at a Barnes and Noble bookstore near here. He was performing at a venue here later that evening. He probably bought 8-10 books that day.

That particular shop is almost like cheating in this category because you would have to go out of your way to not see a celebrity in that bar. I was shopping that very same hotel a few years back and while checking in, the front desk attendant glanced over my head and said, "I'll be right with you, Miss Thurman." Totally threw me off my game. I couldn't remember anything the front desk guy said after that...

Oh, and I guess I have also seen Craig Robinson in a bar I was shopping.
I saw Steadman Graham during a circuit of shops at LaGuardia Airport. I was surprised to see him eating in one of the food courts.
Haven't met any celebrities while shopping, but when I was in retail management I did meet plenty...

Mickey Spillane
George H.W. Bush
Alan Jackson
William F. Buckley, Jr.
Mark Hamill
Lauren Bacall

I was doing some mystery shops in the Vancouver airport last summer and saw Vanilla Ice and actor Chris O'Donnell all within the same hour.

But it was still cool!!!

I have never seen Craig Robinson anywhere - let alone a bar while mystery shopping. But I have seen someone else of Hot Tub Time Machine fame in a bar while mystery shopping. Not John Cusack though.
Like kimmiemae, I live under a rocksmiling smiley I do not watch tv and rarely watch movies (for shops of course). I can count on one hand how many celebrities I would recognize. As far as shopping, I saw Seth Meyers on a Walgreens shop. I only knew who he was because his mom is an English teacher and I used to teach as well and came to know of him through that relationship. I don't think I have ever actually seen him on TV.

I have also run into Adam Sandler on several occasions. Everyone around here knows he comes home often and tend to just let him "live normally". Last time I saw him was in the mall (I can't remember if I was doing shops, but I must have been because I rarely go to the mall otherwise) and no one said a word to him.
Haven't met any on a mystery shop but thanks to my full-time job (Customer Service for a major university press/distribution center), I've talked to a few on the phone...if any of you remember the actor Tim Reid, I've spoken with him before (he wrote a book with the comedian Tom Dressen a few years back) as well as other actors....also have spoken to a random political type here and there as well (if any of you watch PBS and the show McLaughlin Group, I spoke to Mr. McLaughlin once....just as loud on the phone as he is on TV!)

Silver certified (since 2009) and willing to do shops all around the greater Chicago, NW Indiana, and Southern Wisconsin areas (including airports!.
At my old job as a claims adjuster, I handled a claim for Ringo Starr. Very polite guy.
Never saw/recognized anyone while on a job but did see Spike Lee on 5th Ave. while walking to work one day and Mariel Hemingway at a drug store on 57th St. That's it for me, LOL.
I saw John Legend one time while at the airport on the way to a shop. Does that count? smiling smiley. It also happened to be in LA.
I wouldn't know many celebrities either. Most of the people who are "celebrities" to me are indie musicians most people wouldn't even know who are, and many of which know who I am.
