Have you ever seen a celebrity while mystery shopping?

My spouse and I were stopped at a light when he noticed that the guy next to us was missing a few fingers - he had his hand out the window. He says to me "look that guy is missing fingers like Telly Savalas". That was because it was Telly Savalas.

My Rotti recognized the guy from ZZ Top driving home one day. She hates bikes, especially loud ones. She ain't thrilled with beards either.

Bob Hope told my Dad not to give me grief when his showgirls were puking. I thought it was hysterical. I remember him saying I told them not to fly in the little plane.

No, haven't met any stars since I decided to mystery shop. Met a bunch throughout my life, but no; not any since I started this new adventure.

I actually ran into Matt Damon while on a shop at a popular clothing store on Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills, CA. He & I were the only ones in the changing room and we kind of had a moment where we exited at the same time and he mentioned to me "Can you believe the stuff they are selling in here?" I was still in character (and still filming the video) when I just played dumb and mentioned that the clothier kept getting bolder.

Needless to say, the salesman treated us both with an equal amount of respect. And Mr. Damon was pretty cool as well. If he only knew that I was working at the time!
You have a better celebrity story than that even if you weren't actually on a shopsmiling smiley

Yeah but thanks to her we now all want to hear it.

Ok, ok. Long story short, I was in Chicago this summer and stuck over the weekend at a hotel where I was approached by a short, wiry man with a somewhat familiar face while seated at a bar. We discussed sports & such, to which the topic switched to English soccer. After a few drinks, the man bought a large bottle of scotch (my favorite, fyi) from the bartender and was just shooting the breeze following our long sports discussion. Keep in mind that I wasn't "on the job" at the time.

After about close to an hour of talk, the bartender introduces himself, as did I, while the man says that "My name is Rod Stewart, and I'm in the music business." What's funny is that neither the bartender nor I knew how the guy really was until I looked him up the following day. He was just a pretty cool guy that shared his scotch + sports insight with at the time.
Does he still wear his hair all spiky?

I probably wouldn't recognize him. Looking at images of him on the web just now, he looks a lot different (not just older) than he did in the '90s.

I would recognize him in a heartbeat. He has always been and remains one of my favorite entertainers. Of all the concerts I've gone to, he and Willie Nelson are the only ones I've gone back to see multiple times. I normally don't count Willie because a friend worked for him so I would go to the shows every time he was within a couple of hours of St. Louis while I actually pay money to go see Rod Stewartsmiling smiley

I was unimpressed with Willie live, which is odd I know. I probably wouldn't recognize Rod Stewart, but would definitely know who he was when he introduced himself.

I wore out Rod's first album from playing it over and over and over. Wake up Maggie - still know every word to that song. I remember when Rod Stewart was in Faces way back when.
His hair wasn't really spikey when I saw him. It was shoulder-length short and up a bit, yet not spikey. I think that he does that for his concerts though?

In a "previous life" as an outside plant engineer for a phone company, I was called out to the home of the lead singer for The Gatlin Brothers. They had built their recording studio on phone company property and wanted me to write up a waiver. That was before they were famous. I kept the written request that he signed for a long time.

When I am not mystery shopping I work at the "hospital to the stars" so I have walked past and also spoken to many stars over the years. Just like our agreement not to mention which msc shops for which establishment, I also cannot reveal who I met. But many of the above mentioned people have been here at one time or another...often I have no idea who they are until a co worker tells me as they usually use fake names. Some are very recognizable, like the bald one mentioned above. Usually they are very nice.
See, I wouldn't recognize him unless his hair was spikey because that's the way I've always seen him - pictures of him at a concert (on TV - never been to one of his concerts)
