editors with poor English skills

I get a review back and it says to watch my grammar and gave an example of a general issue with a homophone using words I did not use at all. I happen to write my narratives in Word and save them. I went back and went through it and there were no grammar mistakes. The only homophone word I used was 'to' and it was used correctly in a prepositional phrase.

It seems like they just pick an issue at random to cite as an error to justify their job. I also wonder how many times there are real mistakes that they don't notice! Or maybe they use a faulty grammar check program to detect alleged errors?

Maybe they are trying to annoy people so they go out and spend money on alcohol...and then need to do more shops to pay for it!

Sometimes I think they're told they HAVE to find something wrong. Especially ACL.
I don't stress over that stuff. If my report is accepted and I know I didn't screw up in my writing, I just blow it off.

Seriously, nobody cares that you're offended.
I was just thinking of another one that they initially rejected due to a reviewer error. The shop required you to ask an employee the location of a somewhat specific item and gave a few examples such as jarred black olives. I used one of their examples and even made is a little more specific. The reviewer rejected it for not being specific enough, although it was reinstated when I questioned it. So the next time I went and found the product and noted the exact details right down the the size/count of the product and asked for it that way.

One company that I had never received a complaint from after doing over 100 shops in a couple years suddenly complained about 3 shops in 1 week...but never again after that. So I wonder if that was an editor that was fired or retrained.
several msc's use an outside editing company to edit their shops.
Many times they dont understand the guidelines. Anytime an editor
makes a mistake that is incorrect I forward my reply to them to the
head in the msc. I dont have time to deal with stupidity

= + = + = + = + = + = + = + = + = + = + = +
There are no stupid questions, but there are a lot of inquisitive idiots
==--==--==--==--==--==--==--==--==--==
When you try to please everybody, you end up pleasing nobody
One time the Guidelines had samples of the narratives and they appeared to be a literal English translation of a French narrative. I could not believe it. I wrote my scheduler and commented on it. I never received any reply but eventually the Guidelines became much more improved.
There's an editor for Confero who summarily assigns a score of 8 and includes the following statement in his/her reviews, even if there are no errors at all: "Your survey contained some grammar and/or spelling errors and/or typos. Please remember to spell check, as well as proofread your report before submission. Thanks."
What always gets me are the grammar mistakes in the guidelines. I mean if they cannot get it right? What I have noticed is when a report is nitpicked I chalk it up to new editors who are justifying their jobs. Need to find mistakes to keep your job. There also might just be a grammar program that spits out what was programmed into it. Either way it still irritates me to see that "clarification" email the next day.

My experience with ACL is to receive the same exact paragraph that everything was great for almost every report.
Every request for correction notice I've gotten from them has been legitimately for something I neglected to do. This last time I failed to upload pics of the bathroom that I think were still being uploaded to dropbox when I was loading the rest of the pics to the report. I uploaded all the pics I saw and forgot that there were two more on the way.

I would guess if you're getting requests it's because you didn't answer everything you were required to. I find this a great company to work for.

Time to build a bigger bridge.
