Purchase/return

I posted this previously, but in the wrong place. When you do a purchase/return or a pawn and reclaim shop that has to be turned around during a standard time frame (12-24 hours, or midnight same day), how do you keep from being outed? It seems so suspicious to me, especially at the small places where you are likely to encounter the same associate.

you have a good reason for the return..

if you pawned something....your friend lent you the money instead


to return something...you found something else you like better...etc

i've done returns in less than an hour...your spouse found something you like better online from another store (this way you would have been able to see the item)

I have never been outed because of a return. You can always say, you changed your mind or it did not look good when you tried it at home or your husband said you already have one, etc. Although I have done purchase and return a number of times, I very seldom do them now unless the fee is good enough for two shops.

I've returned things many times....sometimes just a couple of minutes after I purchsed it. I explain the item was a present from someone, and I just received a text from [husband, son, friend, sister-in-law] that they'd already bought the item. If the explanation is accompanied by the right amount of exasperation and eye rolling you'll get the salesperson to really comiserate with you.

LOL I bought a $400 TV, went to my car for 10 minutes and then returned it. Did the "stupid husband" excuse that he had just texted me that he got one too. They were not happy with me.
