Anyone done a marijuana shop?

In this state (AZ) it is medical only, and I am hazy about the requirements. This came through a regular scheduler. Do federal laws put me in jeopardy? I can't afford the $1000 fine! It is a $45 reimbursement.

Federal laws still state that purchase, sale or possession of marijuana is illegal. Obviously they are not enforcing it in states where medical and/or recreational marijuana has been made legal by the state or municipality. It is a gray area so you are right to be cautious. My state does not yet have marijuana legal for medical or recreational use, so the issue of purchasing medical has not and can not come up yet.

Theoretically for medical marijuana you would need a script from a doctor. If it is not prescribed for you by a doctor I would suspect the issues would be the same as having someone else's restricted pharmaceuticals on your person.

I would suggest that you talk with the scheduler. Certainly anyone could go into a store that sold medical marijuana and ask what the prescription requirements would be or evaluate the store for cleanliness or absence of 'recreational' paraphernalia. You might need to purchase something, but I suspect that a lighter or carry box or some other item that was not actual weed should be what is required.

Imagine how much time and money the feds would have to spend to be able to make a case to fine you. Imagine the bad press the federal government would get when they fine someone for doing something that's wholly legal in their state. The FBI or ATF or DEA have far, far better things to do than waste their time on someone like you who buys a dimebag or two.

There are a lot of things that are illegal but simply not worth it for an agency to enforce, like jaywalking. Usually the only times you'll ever get in trouble for stuff like that is if a local PD has a quota of tickets they need to fill; federal agencies don't have quotas.

Do not assume anything when it comes to giving out tickets. Last month there was a big scandal in my city of Los Angeles when it was reported that the police were ticketing people for jaywalking at a very huge rate. And in this case for the law that no one seems to have known...you are only allowed to step into the street when the white cross signal is on. Once the red number countdown begins on the stop light if you step into the street you get a ticket. If you have never seen these types of signals at many of the intersections the white cross signal flashes on for just a few seconds and then there is a number countdown often starting from 25 and going backwards to 1 when the light changes to red. I do not think money was the only issue on this. If they can be so sneaky as to target people with enforcement of an unknown rule for an infraction it is almost impossible to avoid, they can decide to ticket for anything..to make a point?

Not yet but I sure would like to.
I think what I like most about this comment is that you "liked" it yourself.

Not to be rude, but I'm surprised this isn't a well known law. It drives me crazy when people do this in big cities (I see it a lot in San Francisco because that's close to me, but I've noticed it in LA and NY too). Cars waiting to turn right have to wait FOREVER while all the pedestrians walk, sometimes darting out after they're not supposed to be starting to cross anymore. I've sat through 2-3 light cycles unable to turn before I was finally able to go. Clearly, you can see that it traumatized me, since I STILL remember it. smiling smiley

I'm sure they will want you to be a normal customer and test the knowledge of the bud tender. They will help you choose between the Sour Diesel and the Purple Haze. If you leave without buying some weed, then you will be very memorable. Then there should be a narrative to fill out on the quality of the product.

You can then apply to do the Best Buy audit and fail the drug test. winking smiley
CaliGirl, I guess you are someone who drives and does not walk! When i get to a wide crosswalk sometimes the flashing white person flashes for about 2 seconds. If there are more than a few people at the crossing you cannot get your foot onto the street before the number countdown begins. That number countdown is for people, not cars so that they can get safely across BEFORE the cars are allowed to turn. And I think perhaps the police are taking that flashing white person literally as it seems the majority of those getting tickets are not white.

I walk *and* drive. I'm multi-talented. smiling smiley

I understand what you're saying: the window to start walking is short. But once that walking guy stops and the red hand comes up, you're not supposed to start walking. That's the rule. Sometimes it means waiting through a light cycle, just like cars sometimes have to wait through a light cycle.

Prejudicial enforcement of the law sucks, though. I think it's a good rule and should be enforced, but it should be enforced consistently... not based on the color of the pedestrian's skin.

Legal here in Denver. I see the MSC and locations close by. I have NO interest. It isn't a Secret shop I want. But check it out.
They need to bring these shops to WA state, legal for medical (with a card) and recreational (with a lot of cash). smiling smiley
10-foor-pole list. That garbage led to my brother's death and was the gateway to my daughter losing literally half her life and her child before she finally got her crap together nearly two years ago. No judging if others choose to do them, though, just not gonna be my thing.
Actually, JulieJ, they are in WA. i saw one a couple of weeks ago for a site not far from where I live.
Pros and Cons are about equal. Thanks for all of the comments.(And I learned about jaywalking too!) I still would like to hear a response from someone who has done one. I will not venture forth into unknown territory. I'm too old for drama.

Hear, hear, my friend!

When I was in CA a number of years ago, I went to a shop with a friend, who had a doctor's script. I was not allowed in to see the "merchandise." I am thinking that in order to do the shop, you would need the license to get in the door. They are not here in Vegas, and I have not seen them in the CA cities we go to, altho I see a lot of "clinics."
I don't live where marijuana is legal for any reason, but I would think there are especially discerning hipsters who ask a lot of questions about the quality of the product and don't buy anything after they decide it's not up to their standards. These are the people who will only drink craft beer and only smoke a particular type of hand-rolled cigarette because they think it's healthier.

I think it is only in the states where it is legal for recreation use. In California it is only for medical reasons - until the next election - haha.

You just have to keep applying with more MSCs until you find it.

I think there are some that actually specialize in marijuana shops. Just type marijuana mystery shop into Google or some other search engine.
There is one MS company with 420 in the name. In Cali you have to have a recommendation from an actual doctor. That's all these M.D.'s seem to do, so we call them "Dr. Feelgood."

You will not get into a dispensary without your official card. It costs about $50 to get one, so unless you're a user, it's not worth it.

Don't ask me why I know all this! :0

i'm in co.. you can buy it using an rx or recreational use...quite easy.. pot shops are ALL OVER THE PLACE..middle of nowhere and there will be several of them open. ironically, it's legal STATE,but illegal Federal. ..and, WHERE you smoke it can be an issue ... in an apt you can easily have the smoke drift into yours, and if you've got kids.................
