Audit's

I have been doing shops for a few months now, I have been offered a retail store audit, 85 items and 15 questions. One of the two stores everyone knows. Not much info on the shop,I have no idea what is involved, they say about 3 hours, 25.00, any suggestions. Am i permitted to say the shopper company? Love the Forum!!!!

Three hours for $25.00 is barely above minimum wage, and doesn't include your travel time and time reading the instructions. If you want to get established doing audits, you may want to try it just for the experience, but experienced shoppers would not consider it for such low pay.
Experienced auditors might complete this audit in about 90 minutes and "earn" more money per hour.

Persons new in this audit should not be surprised if the first audit takes up to three hours.

The audit sounds familiar to my very first audit, except mine paid $45 and took me 3 hours and 15 minutes to complete. I didn't take it for the money, though. I am still new (newer than you) and just wanted to try every type of shop I could grab. After I did this one, I swore I would never touch these types of shops again lol. However, they called me a week later and asked if I could grab one that someone flaked on and I was able to complete it in an hour and half. So, I would say go for it. Its good experience and if you get to do them again, you will probably be able to shave off half the time.
Sounds like Market Force. Just saw those in my area today. Last month they got bonused up to I think $45. I was waiting until it got to at least $50 before considering it but then it disappeared. So wait it out, especially if you don't have competition in your area, which I don't.
There is competition here. The task is easy. I do these for whatever the fee is on the day that I schedule the job.

I think this job is overpriced. It is less work than other audits offered at the same base fee. The other audits are properly priced, IMHO.

Back when the starting pay on these was better but there were a few more items, I did a bunch of these. I found that the 'good' stores were organized enough and the manager respected enough that the shops were a breeze. Get to the stores that were a mess and the manager was a mess and they took forever with an excuse-a-minute manager accompaniment. I haven't done one in years because they dropped the price and I just didn't feel they were worth it.
Hmm. There is no cash outlay and unless there is travel/fuel cost, the fee is pure profit.

A more important factor is standing for the duration of the audit (unless one is blessed with a chair).

I love audits! They take forever the first time, but the 2nd and 3rd time, you get into a routine that makes it go much faster. This is especially true if you audit the same location routinely. If you are able to be on your feet for several hours at a time, go for it! If you want to either whine or get a pep talk, feel free to PM me!
Is this for Kmart? There's one in my area that I'm considering taking. It pays $25. It's not far from me.

My first audit is this weekend. Auditing big retail store with over 2,000 price checks. $125 for 6hrs. It looks and sounds complicated. Will it take this long? Is this worth it? Why do they pay a month later?

Thanks for the help. I am a

The described audits sound like the ones that used to involve 250 items, walking around the store with a manager and a hand held, checking the price on a specific number of each category. As I remember, each item SKU would have to be recorded with prices.

I advise you to take a pencil with an eraser.

They stressed me so much that I would sit around catatonic for the rest of the day. It's over now, and I've recovered from the memory of it all.

Paying a month later is pretty standard for this industry. Some companies can take up to 90 days to pay!

$125 for 6 hours sounds fair to me. It's around my minimum. What I advise is get a phone number of the scheduler or whoever you're working with, so if you get really stuck (OMG, what am I supposed to do?),
you can call from the store. I find that, even if I never use it, having the phone number with me "just in
case" reduces my stress level a LOT.

Best of luck, scared newbie!

PS -- I've been doing this 6 years, and still sweat bullets at every "new-to-me" shop.

With a little luck from the store employees you can get this done in about 90 min. You only have to write the SKU for the prices that are wrong, not all of them. Also, grab a weekly and a monthly circular when you get in, makes this easier.

Final advice, do as many grocery items as you can. That's easy to whip through and get 30 or so of the blocks filled in. Good luck.
Has anyone done the BIG electronics store audit? It's supposed to take all day..8-9 hours for $85-$95..How difficult are these?
