DVR - what brand, which one?

I am going to get a DVR to record my shops. I know I would like it to be voice activated and I would like to be able to have it recording while in my purse (or maybe back pocket if small enough). What other features should I look for? If you have one you like could you list the brand and the model number?
Thanks!

Need to clarify my question. I only need sound, not video. Would like to spend less than $100. (way less if possible).
Never mind, just found other posts and checked on my state. It is illegal and definately not worth the hassle.
If you ever choose to get one forget about voice activated and be sure you can transfer the files to your computer. That will allow you to use it for audio recorded shops.

Equal rights for others does not mean fewer rights for you. It's not pie.

Stop by your local office supply store and see what is available. I sometimes see them drastically discounted on the clearance table. Several things you really want: the ability to plug in a remote microphone (useful eventually), ability to upload files to your computer (as LisaSTL stated).

Many of them have voice activation, but you definitely want one that you can turn the voice activation off or else you will likely lose the first word or two as it activates. Obviously the simplest interface to upload to your computer is a USB connector, but a little cable to connect is not bad. I just leave the cable plugged into a USB port and then connect the little mini connector into the recorder when I am ready to upload. Some of them use standard batteries, which can be fine--I have some that use AAA and can handle rechargeables. My current one once I finish file transfer I can unplug, replug and then set it to recharge internal batteries via the USB cable. I have no idea how long before the rechargeable battery will stop taking a charge.

You don't need one with huge capacity or microSD cards or any of that because you will be uploading files to your computer and wiping them off the recorder.

Once you have perused the office supply store, made your notes, checked there is nothing on clearance, go to eBay or Amazon and see what kind of price you can get there.

I am partial to Sony products, others are partial to Olympus. I'm not sure that there is a whole lot of difference between them for what we want to do. But don't buy the cheapest one out there or you will likely find that the sound quality is not too great.
