Beverage audit routes...anyone?

Has anyone accepted one of these? A nearby county is bonused $150, so I'm thinking about it. I just wish they would disclose how many locations are in the route before you apply. It's small town/backwoods kind of area, so I don't imagine the stops are very dense, but I don't appreciate the unknown aspect. How long does it take to evaluate and report each stop? The money sounds good, but there's too many holes for me to make a decision!

Yes, I agree about the uncertainty. You don't really know how many places there are until you survey. One could check on google maps or something similar. However, there is a second aspect of that shop that bothers me. You have to survey all the drinks of establishments that don't know you are coming and truly have no reason to let you do the job. Then you get paid for doing every establishment, not by the number you are able to complete. I wonder what happens if one or more refuses permission to do the audit. I'm passing on these because of the uncertainty.

The all-or-nothing aspect is scary. I can see why they would not want to have to schedule out leftover scrap locations so compel shoppers to take a whole territory. However, it would be more humane to offer a small, per-shop fee and a sizeable completion bonus.
The only one that shows on my biard is for a county about two hours away from me. Let's pretend, however, that I lived in this county. There is a $150 bonus on the project. The population of the county is just under 9000 people and incorporates 434 square miles. How many c-store, bars and restaurants do you think are within those 434 square miles? Probably not worth driving around to find them all.
In a past year I looked at the guidelines. You are expected to observe every plot of land on every street in the assigned area. I suppose you could look at the zoning to eliminate residential and industrial zones if you could find it to shorten your job. Also, you could survey it on Google maps street view as well. But that data is old and you might miss something doing it that way.

You can't easily get the "map" until you're assigned the audit. Then, if you look at the map and go no way, I can't do this, you have to cancel. However, I did the conference call, and found a way to get the map BEFORE being assigned the area. So I'll check the map when I get it, then decide. Now I'm just worried whether my lack of tech ability will prevent me from downloading the app and using it. I am a tech dinosaur.
Just got a new email, the bonus is now at $200. Even though the counties are small but still split in 2-3 tracts at my area in a major metropolitan city, I will pass. I looked over the guidelines, all gas stations, restaurants, bagel shops, convenience stores, etc, inside the tract must be done and the circuit can be from 1-500 stores. I will pass. There are multiple convenience store chains around that get shopped multiple times per month, numerous nicely bonused gas stations, age audits, bar shops every month, etc. and I do not see any point to reveal myself. The route should have been per shops done, and in the $1000s to worth anything. There was another audit by another MSC in bars and pay started at $10 per location but was soon significantly bonused, the report was short, and you got a reimbursement for a cheap drink. I can even do 6 bonused gas stations for just one chain in less than 2 hours, drive a total of 10 miles, and make more, fill my tank, and get a nice stash of cocktail peanuts and Coke.

In my area they mostly assigned by counties.

I did one, just finished it. It wasn't bad. I didn't make much because it was in a VERY low income area and every location just sold 12oz cans not fountain drinks so I couldn't complete more than 3 of the surveys.

But the bonus is not it paid regardless if you do 1 or 500?

I should get my bonus no matter what. I'll update when I get paid.

Good luck. Please update us on how it goes.

Thanks. smiling smiley
