Good evening,

Has any one question a editor about their shop and is it a good idea? Or shall I just let be be and move on to the next shop. As long as I get payed I will be happy smiling smiley

I have questioned an editor but it all depends on the situation. If it is not a big thing to you and you feel it will not change the outcome you can leave it alone. I do sometimes email them for clarification if I am unclear as to what I should have done so I do not do the same thing, whatever it was, on the next shop.
I rarely have a shop returned by an editor. Usually it was indeed something that I wasn't clear about. Every few years there is one that does confuse me about what they are driving at which makes a question back to the editor appropriate.
Just say I did a shop and Jan sends me a e-mail saying she needs more info. I make the changes and Mike see it. Will Mike forward it to Jan?

Also do they reply back and if you do question it do you get ding for it?

Thanks
You are getting dinged for the editor needing to contact you. Beyond that it is going to depend entirely on the MSP and how they handle responses/replies and how your question is stated. Overall my sense is that if an editor needs more information you provide it and move on.

I understand I am getting ding for them contacting me. But when they sent the e-mail this was mention

You will not be penalized for this contact. Thank you!
I only 'question' or whatever word you want to use when the editor asks for something or has an issue with something that I was told the opposite about, or whatever, before doing the shop. In that case, I will politely let them know about whatever communication was done before a shop and explain why I did or did not do whatever the issue is from the editor's point of view. Sometimes I will even cc: the person who told me to do or not to do whatever and bring them in on it so everyone can be clear moving forward. I have not had issues with that and have only had to do it a few times. It's always been worked out without me being penalized in any way. The worst things, as discussed elsewhere, are the punctuation police who have zapped me for two spaces or whatever. I just shake my head and move on. At this stage in my life, I am not in school. I am who I am and as long as they pay me, I'm happy.
Issiah, for me it really depends on my relationship with that particular company, if their feedback is designed to help shoppers improve, and how they interact with shoppers in general. For some I wouldn't bother because I know the effort is going to hit a brick wall. For others I would consider it because I know they welcome the contact and question. Orrymain's comments are quite in line with what I would do as well. For example, if I made a pre-shop inquiry and was instructed to perform the shop a certain way that an editor questions me for later, I would very likely respond to the editor with the text of the scheduler's response and CC it to the scheduler. If you care to name the company we might help you more. If you don't, perhaps you can see what others say about that company and go from there.

Happily shopping Rhode Island and nearby Massachusetts and Connecticut
I will mention that this company has been talk about here before. Some good and some bad. I have not had any really major problems with this company. I have been zapped a few times by the punctuation police..My average with this company is a seven. As long as I am pay I am good smiling smiley

I'm scratching my head over a shop that I did yesterday for an MSC that's rarely spoken of on here. It was graded within a few hours, and the editor commented that I didn't say whether the associate had mentioned a specific promotion. Actually, I'm quite sure that I mentioned this in my narrative; I remember almost exactly what I typed. I was graded an 8 on the entire group of shops, which is very low for me. I guess I just have to swallow my pride... it's not worth fighting over when you get paid the same either way. I'm just wondering how the editor arrived at that rating and that allegation.

Pinchers - if the shop was for IntelliShop, then they look for ways to award an 8. It often bears no relationship to reality. Didn't you keep a PDF copy of what you submitted? If it was IntelliShop, it would be pointless to argue anyway. You are going to get paid. Welcome to the Eight is Plenty Good Enough Club.

Shopping Southeast Pennsylvania, Delaware above the canal, and South Jersey since 2008
No, myst, it couldn't have been Intellishop, because Intellishop doesn't fit the description "an MSC that's rarely spoken of on here" - we talk about Intelli ALL the time here, especially about the editing.

I'm wondering if ipinchers is talking about The Consumer Insight.

Guessing game!
Nail on the head, AustinMom. I like the MSC, but I'm wondering what happened yesterday. Not going to lose sleep over it though.

Also, thanks for the premature membership, myst4au--but so far, my perfect 10 rating with Intellishop is still intact! I really should be saving copies of my reports, though. :-p

I have a lot of 9s, a few 10s, and one 8, which was my last shop. That's the editor who took off for the 2 spaces and unspecified grammar errors. I haven't done a shop for them since the 8 shop. It's not intentional; just haven't had anything jump out at me that I wanted to do.

I have had editors refer to things supposedly from my reports which weren't actually discussed at all. I think they sometimes send one shopper's critique to another. Oopsies.
I think that's what happened here. The same report said that I didn't mention the associate by name, and that's not true either.
