My First Reveal

Today I performed my first assignment where I revealed myself as a mystery shopper based on the performance of the CSR. I'm happy to say she did everything on the list, so I was able to present her with a certificate. She will get a gift card for the mall where she works. She was really happy and I have to say that it made my day to make her day. Even better, the pay for this 10 minute job was pretty good and the report was reasonable. I love happy endings!

Awesome all around! It is always so fun to play Santa Clause. On the other hand, issuing the "Oops" cards always makes me sad. At least the mall shops let you leave without confronting the CSR. Congrats on a successful first reveal!

Although it is probably a misspelling I love Santa Clause in this context.
I LOVE giving away stuff to people doing things right. I've never done a shop where you have to give an "oops" card. The ones I have done were the ones where you just leave without revealing yourself if they don't hit their points. I don't think I'd like giving out an "oops" card. sad smiley

There are two types of people in this world: Those who can extrapolate from incomplete data.
I agree about the oops thing. This was an assignment where I would have just left if she had not met all the standards. I'm really happy that she did!
That's great! I don't like leaving the oops certificates.

I have done shops that require an OOPS card, and it does suck. I just smile and give them the information and if allowed explain what was marked off. A lot of the time the managers who I have spoken with all ready knew what was wrong.

Silver certified for 11 years and happily shopping Arizona!

I issued an "OOPS" card last week and thought one of the employees was going to cuss me out! Both employees refused to give me their names. I had to get the convenience store manager to give me the names. I noticed that the location is up for another shop, but I don't think I will offer to do it. lol

pampet - I believe I know which shop you did, I had one when they first started a few weeks ago, but I was not able to award the certificate which I was a little upset about. All because the CSR was not wearing her name tag! She was they type of person every consumer wants to interact with, sincere and friendly and honestly wanting to assist you! Chances are she was never given a name badge sad smiley
@Sandman1048, when I was checking the list before I gave her the certificate, I got to the name tag thing and panicked. I had forgotten to look. I know that is one of the first rules of shopping but… Anyway I walked toward the counter and could see right away that she did have her nametag on. I agree with you that the interactions are way more important than a name tag.

Have you ever done a phone shop where you have to reveal yourself right at the end of the conversation? I'm just not sure what I would say to end the conversation. Do I just say, "By the way, I'm a mystery shopper, have a good day". Or do I stay on the line and answer any of their questions. I think I could handle it easier in person than on the phone!

@lateraine, Unfortunately I had 3 oops shops on the same day, but oddly enough each of them was very nice and understanding about it, and it even appeared as if they expected it, like they knew they would never pass. As far as doing another shop there, the problem with these types of shops is your cover is blown, and you can never really do a shop there again. If it happens to be a place you normally go to though, they will always think you are checking up on them.
@pampet, sometimes you have to wonder how the companies come up with their sometimes impossible guidelines. One of the fast food shops I do frequently is a great example of this. You have to time everything, and on one of my times it was the time between getting the total and receiving all of your food items. Yes I am sure you know which one I am talking about, anyway, I posted it was 46 seconds (at the counter not drive-through) and I was questioned as to why it took so long. I even went back to my report to see if I accidentally put minutes instead of seconds...NOPE! I thought that considering I ordered at the register and well under a minute had my food that it was good, guess I was wrong. Sometimes I think they expect their staff to KNOW what I want before I order it so they can have it ready within 3 seconds of ordering smiling smiley
