Reveal Shop with 125 Questions for $12.00

This is no trick or treat! It is a semi-targeted shop also. You have to shop the manager or the next person in charge. So not a specific person/name but still somewhat targeted in my opinion. Then you have to reveal yourself as the MS'er. This could hinder you for future shops. Then you get the pleasure of filling out a 125-question report. Really now?

Ha! I just saw these come up, too, and was debating taking one. I didn't get far enough to realize there are 125 questions. I think not....

I learn something new every day, but not everyday!
I've learned to never trust spell-check or my phone's auto-fill feature.
Its interesting how many really low paying/high effort/time suck shops are out there. I've gotten to the point where I like to watch them to see how long (and how much bonus) it takes before they're snatched up off the boards.

One example... There's a compare/contrast dealership shop available in my area. Go to a dealership, pose as a customer. Get the sales pitch, take a test drive if necessary.... Go to a competitor dealership and do it all over again. Then, fill out a detailed report on each experience, including extra questions to compare and contrast the two.

Pays $15.

For me, $15 isn't worth it to do one dealership shop. I figure I'm going to spend a minimum of an hour in the dealership itself and an hour writing the report. That comes out to minimum wage, best case scenario. So, the shop they are currently proposing pays, best case, $3.75/hour.

I'm not knocking low-paying shops in general. Lord knows I'll take a $5 or $6 shop if I know it's going to be simple, on my way to something else, has some otherwise added value, etc. But even the MSC's "sales pitch" for this job makes it sound like a lot of work. No, thank you.
And don't forget the time/miles to get from Dealership A to Dealership B!!!

This is why I haven't even asked for any of the USPS shops. Didn't somebody say something like 70+ questions? Plus standing in line, several timings, and I'm usually out of pocket because even when they reimburse envelope/box, I have yet to receive 100% reimbursement. No, thanks.
I saw a bank shop today for $18. At the end of the description, it said there were 5 different banks to be surveyed.

NOPE!

I do not do USPS shops either. I did one or two years ago with the old company. Lines too long. Bad body odor from other patrons. And I have no need to send anything. I'll pass.
My most recent PO was four minutes inside. I didn't time the report but I'd say no more than ten minutes. No narrative. Very simple and a big improvement over the previous report.

I don't mind doing all of them. I wish that I could do more per day.
I did one in less than 2 minutes. 4 minutes to report on the app.
I am never out of pocket. I can do these in my sleep. I have to be approaching 500 of these now.
There are exactly 2 left in San Diego County (as usual). I will often clear out a bunch in Northern CA on my travels and send myself stuff to my own house. Clearly, they are in-demand.
ceases, the post office shops are easier than they were with previous MSCs. The report form is actually shorter than it used to be and takes much less time to complete.
I like to think of the compare and contrast auto shop for $15 as limbo shops. As in "How low can they go?" Seriously, who does these? Two car shops for $7.50 each. That's two hours on site, the travel time, probably an hour or so each filling out the report. Then the salesperson will be calling you the rest of your life. That's not peanuts pay, that's peanut shell pay. I'll do a car shop for a minimum of $25 and do a good job at it. I know somebody will take them though. At least once.
The shops the OP referenced were just cancelled by the MSC's client. The email went out about 6 minutes ago. They are making some changes. Yeah, I grabbed one just to see how bad they were before grabbing more. It is semi-targeted as stated, however it is reportable through an app while onsite. Honestly, the report looks less intense than the PO reports by the same MSC. It depends on if you could catch up with one of the two employees. They do not look like they would take over 10 -15 minutes if you can catch one of them which is the clincher I guess.

Edited for stupidity, clarity, and spelling. The stupidity being... how did I accidentally like my own post? Ugh!!! smiling smiley

I did fewer than a dozen with the old MSC. Not enough to relax and just zip right through them.
The current po shops are wonderful: clear, fast, twelve hour report deadline... The only potential drawback is a long line in a location. If you need .more recipients/addresses, you can participate with other shoppers. With this program, you can have very little out-if-pocket cost.

My original post was NOT about USPS shops so I am not sure where the turn happened. Oh well. I am glad that they removed the original shops I was referring to. Maybe they read this thread and have decided to tweak.
